Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to lead the development of the main control board for our high-capacity DC EV chargers. This advanced role focuses on designing the controller that interfaces with the AC/DC converter, vehicle BMS, HMI, and contactors to regulate charging operations, integrating remote monitoring capabilities, including digital twin technology.


Candidate will have the opportunity to potentially joining the Co-Founding Team with equity options.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Control Board Development: Lead the design, development, and testing of the main control board for DC EV chargers, handling all interactions with charger components and vehicle systems.
  • Firmware Development for Control Systems: Develop optimized firmware to enable precise control and real-time monitoring of the charging process, incorporating protocols such as CAN, Modbus, and OCPP.
  • Digital Twin Technology: Implement digital twin models to support advanced remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and analytics, enhancing overall system reliability.
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Achieve seamless integration of hardware control and embedded firmware for effective system operation.
  • Component Selection and Sourcing: Select and source essential components (microcontrollers, relays, sensors) that ensure high reliability and performance.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing and validation of the control board to ensure compliance with industry standards and robust performance in high-power applications.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed design, testing, and maintenance documentation to support both current operations and future enhancements.


Qualifications:

  • Education: M.Tech or PhD preferred in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, ECE, or a related field, with preference given to candidates from IITs and NITs.
  • Experience: 4+ years in control board design, PCB design, and embedded firmware development, especially within high-power applications or the EV charging domain.


Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in control board design for high-power applications.
  • Proficiency in embedded C/C++ programming for microcontroller-based firmware.
  • Strong foundation in control theory, digital/analog circuit design.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols like CAN, Modbus, and OCPP.
  • Experience in PCB design using tools such as Altium or Eagle.
  • Digital Twin Implementation: Practical experience in building digital twins for remote monitoring and predictive analytics.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong independence, and clear communication for effective cross-functional collaboration.


Preferred Skills:

  • Background in EV charging systems, battery management, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for EV charging systems.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage safety protocols and EMI/EMC compliance.
