Job Overview:The Senior Civil/Structural Designer utilizes 3D modeling, and drafting software in the production of basic civil design deliverables pertaining to the initial planning and design phases of heavy industrial/ oil & gas type facilities. Generates engineering drawings and bulk material take offs for civil materials. Assists the Design Lead in effective management of change and responsibility of schedule and quantities. Maintains and promotes a focus on McDermott’s end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:Model & draft various drainage structures including trenches, culverts, manholes, headwalls, sumps, and outfallsModel & draft site earthworks including rough grades, final grades, retention structures, and storm protection structuresPrepare various civil plans, profiles & detailsCompile, track and trend of material quantitiesModel & draft roads, heavy haul, and access waysTravel to attend meetings, training and site verificationsWork is performed in office and construction site environments

Essential Qualifications and Education:High School diploma with some college requiredA minimum of 2 years’ of work experience in civil design, modeling & drafting and in heavy industrial/ Oil & Gas type facilitiesDemonstrable technical knowledge of design concepts & systemsProficient in earthworks software such as Bentley InRoads, Geopak or OpenRoadsAbility to learn and maintain design within our company methods and proceduresStrong communication skill and professional ethicsPreferred Qualifications and Education:Associate degree preferredAbility to work independently organize and prioritize work assignments and deal with conflicting prioritiesExperience using Intergraph S3D and SmartSketchProficiency in Bentley Open Roads Designer#LI-VA1
