Linux and Cloud Systems Engineer with PostgreSQL Expertise

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux and Cloud Systems Engineer with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and a strong background in managing both Linux-based systems and cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining PostgreSQL databases, Linux systems, and network infrastructures while ensuring seamless integration with cloud environments like Azure. You will play a critical role in optimizing performance, ensuring high availability, and automating infrastructure management for our applications.
PostgreSQL Administration:
- Manage, optimize, and troubleshoot PostgreSQL databases.
- Write and maintain PL/SQL scripts for database functions and queries.
- Set up and configure PgBouncer for connection pooling to improve database performance.
- Configure, maintain, and monitor PostgreSQL database environments in Linux.
Linux Systems Administration:
- Perform Linux end-to-end configurations, including network interfaces and system services.
- Manage and automate system operations using Bash scripting.
- Configure, manage, and optimize web servers such as Nginx, Apache2, and PM2 for performance and reliability.
Cloud Infrastructure (Azure):
- Use Azure CLI for cloud environment setup, management, and monitoring.
- Configure and manage virtual machines and other Azure resources.
- Implement networking solutions in Azure, including VMs, network interfaces, and VPNs.
System and Network Configuration:
- Configure and maintain DNS settings for internal and external services.
- Ensure secure and efficient network configurations, including firewalls, routing, and load balancing.
- Optimize system performance and troubleshoot network issues across various environments.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure systems meet security standards, including access controls, network security, and data encryption.
- Monitor for vulnerabilities and apply necessary patches and upgrades.
Automation and Optimization:
- Develop scripts and automation tools to simplify and enhance system administration tasks.
- Implement solutions for continuous monitoring, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in Linux systems administration and cloud infrastructure management.
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL database management, configuration, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with PgBouncer, PL/SQL, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, network interfaces, and DNS configuration.
- Expertise with web server configuration and management (Nginx, Apache2, PM2).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly with Azure CLI and virtual machines.
- Strong scripting skills with Bash and experience automating system administration tasks.
- Solid understanding of system security practices and implementation.
- Certifications in Linux, PostgreSQL, or Azure.
- Experience with high-availability and replication setups for PostgreSQL.
- Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
