Principal Architect

We are looking for an experienced hands-on architect to make intuitive high-level decisions for software development. You will see the “big picture” and create architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide the development team. You will be responsible for the technical direction of projects, software structure, frameworks, and algorithms. You will be empowered to drive innovation by coming up with new and exciting ideas to creatively solve issues, as well as proactively look for opportunities to improve the design, interface, and architecture of products on the cloud.
Primary Responsibilities : Define software architecture and provide clear communication with the team and outside stakeholders to ensure the design is being followed Design and build an architecture that is scalable, reliable, highly available, performant, etc. Assist with tracking and managing product risks and identify ways to reduce or eliminate risk Translate business requirements into technical solutions Identify improvements for the architecture and develop a plan to implement them Provide technical guidance to the development team Ensure the product meets high quality standards by designing and architecting based on best practices and standards Oversee development to assure security and compliance practices are being followed
Requirements :
12+ years of hands on technical experience with enterprise software development
5+ years in a technical leadership role Prior experience working in cross-functional teams
Systems architecture and design skills Expert with application security best practices (esp. OWASP)
Understanding of query & request optimization techniques (including experience with complex MySQL operations and distributed caching)
Build and deployment automation experience Proficiency with common ops tooling (containerization, VMs, Logstash + Kibana, etc)
Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure Comfort maintaining live production systems
Additional Qualifications :
Ability to communicate well with others
Familiar with using client-side JavaScript frameworks (preferably AngularJS/Angular)
Developing, interfacing with, and integrating with REST APIs
Automated testing tools and techniques
Debugging tools and techniques
Knowing when, why & how to refactor
