Principal Software Engineer

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will focus on developing, enhancing and supporting a mission critical back-end application, while working with a broad range of application development, server maintenance, Devops and cloud-based computing. You will contribute to the development and operations of a critical application gateway on the cloud technologies.


Whatyou’ll do

• Develop a strong understanding of the product code base to become more efficient and effective.

• Evaluate and improve the design, performance, stability, and security of critical application components

• Perform design and code review for all application components

• Develop architectural designs for upgrading and refactoring the application

• Perform application software upgrade of the python microservices in an incremental fashion

• Partner with security teams to continually review and remediate security vulnerabilities and threats

• Complete all assigned tasks including new development, enhancements, and maintenance requests.

• Manage the communication and escalation of major issues

• Provide and implement expert technical recommendations for resilience and reliability

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application development, deployment, and operations

• Consistently write unit and integration tests around code and maintain the test suite.


What we’ll want you to have:

• 8+ years of professional experience in backend application stack and strong proficiency in building Python webservices

• Strong experience with AWS and cloud computing (architecture, deployments, and services)

• Experience in AWS technologies such as EC2, RDS, ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana)

• Experience in Jenkins orchestrated CI/CD pipelines, Ansible and Docker containers

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other software engineers on cross-team projects

• Experience working in Ruby on Rails.

• Experience in remediating security vulnerabilities and applying patches in AWS

• Proficiency in new GNU / Linux operating system

• Strong problem solving and prioritization skills

• Experience working in an agile environment

• Able to work flexible hours as required by business priorities

• Ability to deliver software that meets consistent standards of quality, security and operability.
