This role sits within a major banking transformation program focused on digital lending, originations, payments, and core banking modernisation. You will work closely with senior engineers to support development, integration, configuration, and enhancement of the Oracle Banking Platform (OBP) or the Oracle Middleware suite , depending on your background and strengths.This opportunity suits engineers with experience in either backend development, integration, or Oracle banking technologies who are looking to grow into OBP and enterprise banking engineering. Key Responsibilities This is a hands-on coding role You will become a backend Java OBP Engineer Assist in the design, development and testing of software solutions for lending and originations platforms Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver quality outcomes Support REST/SOAP integrations and backend services as part of the platform Contribute to documentation (flowcharts, diagrams, code comments) to support maintainability Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives Support troubleshooting and issue resolution using SQL Developer, Splunk and application logs Learn and apply engineering standards, tools and practices under guidance from experienced team members Key Skills & Work Experience Good experience or academic exposure to Java development Familiarity with REST APIs, microservices and modern integration concepts Basic understanding of Oracle databases and SQL Exposure to web services (SOAP, XML, JSON, WSDL/XSD) Interest in learning Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket and CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) Candidates with Oracle middleware exposure (OSB, SOA, BPM, ADF, ODI, Documaker, WebLogic) are also encouraged to apply Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from others A collaborative mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving Desirable Experience with test automation frameworks (Jest, Cypress, etc.) Knowledge of AWS / GCP / Azure. Background in large-scale transformation programs Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
