What is the Senior Specialist – Investment & Trade Client Services – Reference Data Group responsible for?

The Senior Specialist with Global Reference Data (GRD) will be responsible for being a subject matter expert with regards to settlements data of all asset types (Equity, Fixed income, FXs, Derivatives etc) & account/product reference data. The role ensures accuracy of account, broker, and custody data in trade settlements and responsible for the combination of activities with the focus of providing value added services to portfolio management, trading, investment compliance, custody and broke banks for all products and asset classes. Sr Specialist leads business/data analysis and helps build system/data architectures revolving around product and settlements reference data by utilizing industry knowledge and by assessing operational needs to implement efficient workflows around data management.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Senior Specialist – Investment & Trade Client Services – Reference Data?

Participates and contributes to onboarding activities, such as new fund launches, and account events, such as mergers, conversions, liquidations, in-specie transfers, and custodian conversions. Ensures events are successfully completed and front office is ready for Day 1 launch.

Ensures accuracy and completeness of broker and custody reference data in internal/external systems. Highly proficient in settlement instructions (BICs, settlement accounts and market identifiers), trade life cycle, SWIFT routes to all external recipients, Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs), Global exchange and bank holidays used for trading and settlement systems etc

Key point of contact for trade confirmation/settlements teams at Franklin, brokers, and custody banks on trade settlement exceptions.

Deep understanding of settlements data & its impact on trade settlements, and thereby providing resolution by collaborating with various internal/external groups.

Develop and track KPIs to assess the effectiveness of the process and evaluate/identify trends, anomalies, and discrepancies.

Ensure functions are conducted in compliance within GRD policy & procedures.

Ensure daily production activities are completed, checklists are signed off, logs are updated, and necessary audits are performed.

Solves complex, advanced analytical, operational and client service-related exceptions in support of key clients within Trading, Portfolio Management teams & external business partners(custody/brokers)

Act as business data steward, define data elements and their relationship with processes and other data points, develop business rules and controls to ensure data quality.

Leads Business Continuity activities and support internal/external audits.

Maintain relationship with custodian banks, internal trade services teams and oversee custodian performance scorecard.

Lead departmental projects and initiatives, concentrating on those with the largest scope and complexity, with a focus on impact and outcomes for clients and process stakeholders.

Documenting results of conducted research in the form of business and system requirements.

Liaise with FT Technologies (FTT) and Program Management Office (PMO) on projects involving product, account, and settlements data workflows.

Anticipate future and help position the account master/settlements system to achieve strategic vision.

Stay current on industry emerging issues, market initiatives and legislation related to trade reporting and data privacy.

Testing – Create test plans, perform testing, participate in defect triage, and provide necessary sign offs.

Be a change champion to help facilitate change to ensure staff are aware and prepared for the changes.

Providing periodic updates on project status’, upcoming milestones, issues, or items requiring attention and related mitigation plans

Enable/Implement automated solutions to enhance controls towards risk reduction & operational effectiveness using available digital tools/technologies like Power BI etc

Analyzes control gaps and weaknesses and proposes solutions to reduce the likelihood of error occurrence and ensures modified processes are implemented.

Evaluate and implement new technologies or tools to enhance settlements data management.

Ensure department escalation policies are followed when unusual issues are encountered that require a higher level of decision making.

Coordinate and/or provide training on new activities being deployed into production.

Ensuring documentation pertaining to system behavior & process workflows stay current and accurate.

Lead change management activities – impact analysis, change readiness, mentoring/training & stake holder communication.

Recognize and address risk and compliance issues, provide direction and make decisions during unexpected events.

Monitor error trends, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

Solid understanding of all security types, account & settlement reference data

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics preferred or 4-7 years’ experience in financial services/securities processing.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook

Solid understanding of all security types, account & settlement reference data

Strong knowledge of FTI’s internal systems

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Shift Timings – 2.00 PM - 11.00 PM / 6.30 PM – 3.30 AM IST
