Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Editor/Copyeditor to join our ELA (English Language Arts) team. This full-time role will focus on editing and refining content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with educational standards. The Copyeditor will also collaborate with content developers, video production teams, and other departments to script engaging, educational videos that bring our curriculum to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit and proofread ELA content for grammatical accuracy, coherence, and alignment with program objectives.
- Collaborate with curriculum developers and project managers to enhance content clarity, consistency, and engagement.
- Develop and refine scripts for educational videos, ensuring adherence to tone, style, and curriculum guidelines.
- Ensure all content meets Alpha Publishing’s quality and cultural relevance standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to align content with company goals and educational standards.
- Content Editing & Revision: Review and edit content for clarity, coherence, and alignment with educational standards. Collaborate with authors and experts to enhance instructional value.
- Live Document Editing: Edit and collaborate effectively in real-time environments.
- Development of Program Resources: Contribute to mapping, scope and sequence, and planning documents as needed.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to company guidelines.
- Collaboration & Feedback: Work closely with the Senior Content Editor, authors, and teams. Provide constructive feedback and proactively communicate progress or delays.
- Meeting Deadlines: Ensure timely completion of tasks and communicate any challenges.
- Communication & Organizational Skills: Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication and manage tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Style & Sensitivity Adherence: Follow company style and sensitivity guidelines to ensure quality, respect, and inclusivity.
- Proficiency in Adobe Pro: Use Adobe Pro for precise editing and content presentation enhancement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional editing experience in the educational publishing industry.
- Excellent command of English grammar, style, and punctuation.
- Experience with video scriptwriting is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
Additional Information:
- Position: Independent Contractor Agreement - Freelance (ELA Program)
- Location: Remote
- Working Hours: 8 hours/day
- Working Days: Monday-Friday
- Contract Period: 7 months
- Start Date: Immediately
