Job Description: Remote PCB DesignerLocation: Fully RemotePosition Type: 6-Month Contract (with possibility of extension)Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated PCB Designer to join our engineering team on a contract basis. This is a fully remote, offshore position. As a key contributor to our product development lifecycle, you will be responsible for translating schematic designs into robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective printed circuit board (PCB) layouts. You will work on a variety of exciting projects, including new power supplies, advanced LED light engines, and other proprietary electronic products that are core to companies success.The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in PCB design principles, a keen eye for detail, and a practical understanding of real-world design considerations for power electronics, including noise reduction and thermal management.Key Responsibilities- PCB Layout & Design: Transform electrical schematics into high-quality, multi-layer PCB layouts using Autodesk Eagle as the primary design tool.- Design for Excellence: Implement best practices for signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management to ensure product performance and reliability.- EMC/EMI Mitigation: Proactively apply design techniques to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), including proper grounding, component placement, trace routing, and shielding.- Component & Library Management: Create and maintain schematic symbols and PCB footprints for new components, ensuring they adhere to IPC standards and internal guidelines.- Design for Manufacturability (DFM/DFA): Collaborate with the engineering team and potential manufacturing partners to ensure layouts are optimized for efficient fabrication, assembly, and testing.- Documentation: Generate and manage comprehensive manufacturing data packages, including Gerbers, drill files, bill of materials (BOMs), pick-and-place files, and detailed assembly drawings.- Collaboration & Review: Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to resolve design challenges, meet physical constraints, and participate in formal design reviews to ensure all requirements are met.- Prototyping Support: Assist the engineering team during the prototype bring-up and testing phase by providing design insights and making necessary revisions.Required Qualifications & Skills- 1+ years of professional experience in PCB layout design for electronic products.- Proficiency with PCB design software. Direct experience with Autodesk Eagle is desirable; however, candidates with strong experience in other industry-standard tools like Altium Designer, Ki Cad, or Or CAD will be considered as well.- Demonstrated understanding of PCB layout fundamentals, including layer stack-up, controlled impedance, and high-speed routing techniques.- Practical experience designing for noise reduction and mitigating EMC/EMI issues at the board level.- Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics.- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.- A self-motivated individual capable of working independently and managing time effectively in a remote environment.Preferred Qualifications- A diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related technical field.- Experience designing PCBs for switch-mode power supplies (SMPS), LED drivers, or other power electronics.- Knowledge of industry standards such as IPC for PCB design and manufacturing.- Familiarity with safety and compliance standards related to lighting and electronics (e.g., UL, CE).- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) for managing design files.Why Join Us?- Be part of an innovative team creating tangible products used in stunning architectural projects.- Enjoy the flexibility and autonomy of a fully remote role.- Collaborate with a supportive and knowledgeable engineering team passionate about quality.- Make a direct impact on the development of new and exciting products.How to ApplyIf you are a motivated PCB designer looking to apply your skills to innovative lighting technology, we encourage you to apply.
