Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and maintain scalable, robust automated test frameworks, tools, and backend test environments primarily using Python.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for backend systems, RESTful APIs, and data/ML pipelines, ensuring high reliability and coverage.
  • Own test planning, coverage analysis, and quality metrics tracking for backend domains, driving continuous improvements.
  • Perform root cause analysis on test failures or regressions and provide detailed, actionable insights to development and QA teams.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines, integrating automated backend tests for fast feedback.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to SDETs, QA engineers, and developers on backend automation best practices and Python-based testing frameworks.
  • Promote a culture of quality through rigorous code reviews, design discussions, and advocacy for testability and automation standards.
  • Lead end-to-end test automation initiatives across backend modules and microservices, with a strong focus on scalability, maintainability, and reliability.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend automation and testing.
  • Proven expertise designing and implementing backend test frameworks and automation solutions using Python, specifically with Pytest and unittest.
  • Strong experience working with RESTful APIs and backend microservices automation.
  • Practical knowledge of Docker-based testing environments and AWS cloud services for provisioning, test infrastructure, and environment orchestration.
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as MySQL and MongoDB, with a good understanding of SQL for backend test data verification (nice to have).
  • Experience testing ML models and applying data-driven testing techniques for backend pipelines (preferable).
  • Hands-on experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of Agile software development methodologies, QA frameworks, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Comfortable working on UNIX-like operating systems and proficient in shell scripting (Bash, Shell) for automation and operational tasks.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills with an ability to diagnose backend issues and automate root cause investigations.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach to promoting quality and continuous delivery.
