Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative 3D Character Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves weekly planning and progress monitoring, character animation creation, and direct collaboration with the CEO, CCO and game development team to produce immersive 3D characters and environments for our game and commercial products.
Key Responsibilities
Weekly Planning and Progress Monitoring
- Conduct end-of-week check-ins with the CEO to discuss progress and upcoming tasks.
- Maintain daily documentation of all developments on the Company's Miro board and Google Drive, ensuring progress is accurately tracked.
Character Animation Creation
- Develop high-quality 3D animations for characters, including facial expressions, body movements, and interactive gestures.
- Ensure animations convey personality and emotion, making the characters relatable and engaging for users.
3D Game Design
- Collaborate closely with the CEO and Unreal Engine (UE) Game Developers to design and populate the game environment with dynamic 3D assets.
- Create initial sketches and refine AVA animations in line with the game's mechanics manual and narrative lore.
- Assist in designing and populating commercial products with 3D assets to enhance user engagement.
Strategic Collaboration
- Participate in strategic planning sessions with the CEO every Monday to ensure alignment on game design and product development strategies.
Asset Management and Optimization
- Organize and manage game assets within 3D programs, aligning them with strategic directives.
- Design and enhance the game inventory system with assets such as armor, weapons, and props to deepen gameplay interaction.
- Monitor asset usage, report any improper activities, and advise on asset replacements if necessary.
- Optimize animation placements to ensure seamless game playthroughs and address technical issues like frame-rate drops and environmental glitches promptly.
Asset Security
- Safeguard all 3D assets to ensure they are used exclusively for Company purposes, maintaining the integrity and security of intellectual property.
Requirements
- Proven experience in 3D character design and animation.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling with Character Creator 4 and with Unreal Engine, Blender, iClone.
- Strong understanding of character rigging and facial animation techniques.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Passion for games and creating engaging user experiences.
