Senior Test Engineer

Position: Senior Test Engineer – IoT/Cloud/Edge Location: Bangalore (Work from Office) Notice Period: Not more than 30 days Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Senior Test Engineer – IoT/Cloud/Edge with deep expertise in testing across IoT edge devices, cloud platforms, and web/mobile applications. The role involves a hybrid approach — combining exploratory testing for usability and edge cases with automation for regression and continuous testing. Validate edge devices and data transfer mechanisms , including firmware, secure boot, OTA updates with rollback, sensor accuracy, and power/thermal metrics. Test data integrity during offline/online transitions — ensuring correct ordering, de-duplication, and store-forward functionality. Verify mobile edge gateway behavior across multiple WAN connections (cellular/Wi-Fi), APN/VPN configurations, and system health parameters (systemd, journald, watchdogs). Conduct cloud and API validation , including contract and functional testing, load and performance (steady, spike, soak, chaos), and ensure latency/error budgets are maintained. Validate multi-tenant isolation , authentication/authorization (RBAC/ABAC), throttling, and deployment patterns (blue/green, canary, rollback). Implement web and mobile app automation using Playwright and Appium; validate across devices, browsers, and accessibility standards (WCAG). Evaluate connectivity protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP/HTTPS), perform impairment injection (loss/jitter/bandwidth caps), and ensure recovery mechanisms. Perform end-to-end performance and resilience testing , ensuring system recovery within target RTO/RPO under adverse conditions (restarts, region failures). Integrate test suites within CI/CD pipelines , implement quality gates, publish observability dashboards (latency, traffic, errors), and analyze trends and flake rates. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in QA automation across IoT, Cloud, or Edge environments. Proficient in Python (PyTest/Robot) , TypeScript (Playwright) , and Bash ; experience with Appium (Python/JS bindings). Strong knowledge of networking and protocols — MQTT, CoAP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS/mTLS, OAuth2/OIDC/JWT; hands-on with Wireshark/tcpdump. Experience with Linux system internals (systemd, journald, logrotate, cgroups, watchdogs, secure update). Familiarity with containers and cloud technologies — Docker/Podman, Kubernetes/OpenShift, API gateways, and message brokers (Kafka/AMQP/MQTT bridges). Hands-on with API testing and automation tools — Postman/Newman, REST Assured, OpenAPI/JSON Schema, Pact (consumer-driven contracts). Experience in performance and chaos testing using tools such as k6, JMeter, Gatling, and Toxiproxy. Understanding of security testing practices — certificate management, rate limiting, secrets handling, and vulnerability scanning. Exposure to observability stacks — Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, OpenTelemetry, and Jaeger/Tempo for RCA and metrics correlation. Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
