Software Development Engineer-II

As a Software Development visionary, are you working on new technologies, surrounded by disruptive problem solvers, or working with game-changers? We are. At Expedia, our team our pioneers in delivering Data platform solutions. The only question is; “will you come along for the ride?” The Expedia Data Products and Platforms team is currently looking for talented and highly motivated Software Development Engineers with a heavy programming and analysis background. As part of this team, you will be responsible for the delivery of solutions on top of the Data platforms implementation and will be playing a key role in this huge technology pivot. You will not only help train our existing staff making the leap over to our new technologies, but you will also empower the team to approach problems differently. These solutions drive business value from powering the most critical business decisions to powering how the site behaves through various avenues of personalization. This entails working with the delivery team and business partners to flesh out requirements, complete solution design, development and ultimate delivery to the end consumers. A high performing individual contributor who mentors junior engineers. applies new data engineering principles to improve existing systems, and leads complex, well-defined projects.
What you'll do:

  • Design and develop, scalable cloud-native solution that are scalable, responsive & resilient.
  • Work on building platform products
  • Work on building microservices which are independent and can be leveraged by other independently.
  • Be responsible for your products, with a focus on DevOps and robust automation • Embrace change, always be open to replacing what you built yesterday with something better to
  • Develop, test, own and deliver Sprint tasks and help drive the team forward.
  • Collaborate with teams and individuals to complete your team assignment on time, with quality.
  • Be a coach/mentor to junior developers on the team.
  • Work across multiple layers of the stack as the problem demands
  • Be responsible for your products, with a focus on DevOps and robust automation • Embrace change, always be open to replacing what you built yesterday with something better today

Who you are:

  • 3+ years development experience in an enterprise level engineering environment increasing levels of technical expertise
  • 2+ years hands-on backend application development experience with excellent understand products with microservice architecture.
  • Displays strength in Python, flask, fast API Displays a good understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Built and maintained at least one application in production environments (bug fixing, troubleshooting, monitoring, etc. Functional/ Technical Skills
  • Understanding of SQL, NoSQL DB.
  • Understanding of CICD.
  • Has hands-on experience working with at least 1 cloud technology and its offerings within the data specialization
  • Has some familiarity with some data modeling and schema design patterns is good to Have
  • Tests and monitors code at the project level Tests, debugs and fixes issues within established SLAs
  • Designs software that is easily testable and observable Identifies business problems at the project level and provide solutions
  • Data Knowledge is good to have
