We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ab Initio Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing data solutions using the AB Initio product suite. They will play a critical role in architecting and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and deploy data solutions using the AB Initio product suite.
• Architect end-to-end data pipelines to support various business requirements and use cases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Implement data integration processes, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
• Optimize and tune data processes for performance and scalability.
• Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines, processes, and best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data processing and integration.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in data engineering and integration.
• Utilize advanced AB Initio concepts such as dynamic subgraphs, web services, continuous flows, etc., to enhance data solutions.
• Possess working knowledge of tools like Data Catalog, Express>IT and Metadata Hub.
• Should be familiarized with concepts of Active Metadata and Data Fabric.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in Ab Initio Product Suite & related technologies.
• Proven experience working with the AB Initio product suite, including proficiency in the following tools:
o Graphical Development Environment (GDE)
o Data Catalog o Metadata Hub o QueryIT
o ExpressIT
o Control Centre
• Familiarity with advanced AB Initio concepts such as dynamic subgraphs, web services, continuous flows, etc.
• Strong expertise in designing and developing data pipelines, data integration, and data warehousing solutions.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala.
• Experience with SQL and database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Relevant certifications in AB Initio or related technologies are preferred
Skills required for the job:
Technical competency: architecting and designing reusable components for both data integration and management using the Ab Initio tool set.
• Be able to clearly articulate complex topics to an array of stakeholders across the business and technical communities.
• Technology Choice: Be able to go Toe-to-Toe with the best people from our Data & Analytics engineering and technology vendors including Ab Initio and Google to stay ahead of new capabilities & services
• In-Depth knowledge and hands on experience of Data and Cloud Technologies including Data Management, Data Mesh, Data Fabric and Data Governance from Ab Initio, Google, serverless technologies such as Kubernetes and other complementary vendors. For Ab Initio this should include their full product set including the Metadata hub, Business Rule Environment and Easy IT.
• Engineering: Ability to understand and work with engineering level data teams.
What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities:
Captures detailed customer technical requirements for new Data Fabric features and translates to detailed solution design in accordance with design methodologies, using prototyping where necessary to prove new solutions.
• Manages and recommends on the technical direction and helps determine the optimum solution design for customers including how to best adopt the Ab Initio and the Data Fabric.
• Manages the review and validation processes for both new feature developments and in-life products and services, ensuring full integration across all aspects, considering the broad impact of solutions on the product roadmap.
• Drives the improvement of design and delivery capabilities for end-to-end Ab Initio based technical solutions and acts as a key contributor to the architecture, standards, policies, blue prints and patterns that will ensure consistent adoption.
• Manages customer solution design engagement and statement of work creation, including any 3rd party deliverables.
• Facilitates the development of strong customer relationships at the senior level through providing specialist data fabric design expertise, and influencing the customer's adoption strategy and approach.
• Drives consistency in architecture and technical processes, with the aim of reducing costs and increasing productivity.
• Coordinates impact assessments and design documentation updates.
• Resolves complex solution and service issues, leads root cause analysis, troubleshooting and escalation.
• Pursues the identification of potential risks and the implementation of controls and mitigations, ensuring compliance with relevant industry and company policies.
• Mentors other solution designers, helping to improve the team’s abilities by acting as a technical resource.
• Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in data integration / fabric technology
• Provides Ab Initio training and support for new adopters.
• Supporting the Ab Initio CoE in creating a vibrant user community where new ideas, solutions and best practice can be shared.
• Promoting the work of the Ab Initio CoE in regular communications
Experience you would be expected to have:
Showcased expertise on a project or a specific piece of work or led a project outside of the core areas of your expertise utilizing the Ab Initio toolset.
• Experience across multiple sectors defining and delivering enterprise level Data integration/ management solutions.
• Experience of large-scale transformation programmes with a mix of Legacy, New and Emerging technologies – especially implementing data fabric-based architecture to transform an Enterprise.
• Experience of delivering large scale complex meta-data driven data integration capabilities which demonstrated re-use, automation, scalability, performance, high availability and reliability.
• Experience of migrating from other data integration technologies such as Informatica, Pentaho, Streamsets to Ab Initio.
• Experience of creating Ab Initio best practice guidelines, standards and blueprints.
• Clearly demonstrated understanding of the current and emerging technology landscape and how it can be used
• Experience of Service Design, Agile (especially SAFe) & Lean Start-up, CI, CD, Data & Analytics Ops.
• Experience of CI/CD & Data / Analytics Ops approaches and practical implementations
• Ability to de-mystify complex technologies and promote their use across a wide range of personas.
