The ABF is responsible for operational activity that supports the Australian Government's border protection, investigations, compliance, detention and enforcement functions.  Within the ABF, Civil Maritime Sustainment Branch (CMSB) is responsible for the capability management and sustainment of a fleet of air and marine surveillance, patrol and response assets. Our capabilities include ocean going patrol boats, shallow water and coastal response vessels and contracted aircraft. The Branch provides command, operational and logistical services in support of ABF's operational objectives.   CMSB operates in a complex, challenging and changing environment that is characterised by a continually high tempo of operations. The Marine and Aerial Asset Availability provides operational oversight of planning, and performance monitoring of ABF's vessels and other civil maritime capabilities and is responsible for ensuring ABF's maritime surveillance assets are available for tasking by Maritime Border Command (MBC).  This Section is the point of contact for any operational matters related to the ABF's civil maritime capability (including the ABF's fleet of vessels) and acts as the liaison point with a wide range of stakeholders, including MBC and the Australian Border Operations Centre (ABOC), in relation to asset availability in support of Civil Maritime Operations. Our ideal candidate The ABF is looking for officers interested in contributing to Australia's national security through delivery and sustainment of a fit-for-purpose civil maritime capability, including a fleet of ABF vessels and contracted aerial surveillance assets.  Located in Canberra and reporting directly to the Inspector, Marine and Aerial Asset Availability.  This position is responsible for: Contributing to scheduling ABF's marine assets, including through development of the maritime Asset Availability Plan (AAP) Liaising with key stakeholders such as MBC and the Australian Border Operations Centre (ABOC) to communicate changes to asset availability in a timely manner Recording and reporting maritime patrol days, which is an important element of performance reporting. It also reviews post patrol reports to ensure that any items are addressed by the appropriate area and lessons learned contribute to continuous improvements Demonstrating strong communication and engagement skills to work cooperatively with partners, stakeholders and senior executives Enabling positive team culture and supporting the delivery of team objectives collegiately and collaboratively Being able to quickly develop a working knowledge of maritime asset availability and reporting, and or demonstrate scheduling experience in a maritime, or equivalent sector Bringing critical thinking and problem resolution skills to identify, understand and propose solutions to technical issues to ensure operational readiness and optimise the availability of assets. Duties and responsibilities The Supervisor, Marine and Aerial Asset Availability will be responsible for: Supporting the day-to-day operations of the ABF maritime surveillance assets Supporting the availability of maritime assets within the Civil Maritime Capability Branch Operational liaison with MBC and AMBOC on requirements for assets and resource availability noting performance targets as well as quick changes in operational direction Develop reports and briefings on key maritime statistics including marine patrol days Review and coordination of post patrol reports. Additional information Mandatory Demonstrated ability to interrogate corporate reporting systems and Microsoft Excel. Desirable Experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:  Understanding of ABF maritime surveillance and scheduling experience in a maritime or equivalent sector  Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills  Strong written and verbal communications skills Understanding of the International Safety Management code (ISM code), ABF Vessel Management Plans and the Safety Management System.
