Diageo has set up a Data, Analytics & Insights (DA&I) function passionate about demonstrating our core information assets (data, reporting, insights and advanced analytics capabilities) to better equip markets to improve their decisions and optimize their actions through the use of improved data, insights and advanced analytics. The Data and Analytics function consists of 4 key areas of expertise: Technology, Business Insights and Reporting, Transformation and Advanced Analytics. 

D&A will increasingly become a core differentiator for Diageo, identifying and enabling capabilities to improve innovation, performance, and differentiation across a wide range of functions and activities globally.

Within DA&I, the Data Science team focuses on identifying, crafting, and deploying ML and AI solutions globally, including handling the strategic roadmap that will advance our capability maturity and supply to performance throughout the Diageo enterprise.

The Data Science team consists of authorities in advanced analytics, ML, statistics, programming and strategic requirements identification and codification. The team works together with internal stakeholders across the enterprise and within the DA&I organization to ensure that our solutions are well designed, developed, deployed and adopted.

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the role is to build Data Science solutions focussing on the Commercial function – with a strong coverage on Revenue Growth Management. The role will be working with different team members across markets for Solution conceptualisation, development, and implementation – with focus on scaling for multiple regions.

The role will be front and centre in identifying & demonstrating the best-in-class methodologies and tools covering data preparation, statistical model building and insight/analysis consumption.

Accountabilities:

Strategic & business leadership and direction:

Be a great business partner supporting the end-to-end advanced analytics solutions for key markets or a cluster of markets Have outstanding leadership skills in order to challenge, influence strategic and operational agendas and hold others accountable Identification of potential need of AI, ML & Advanced Analytics within various business verticals and support the pre-sales work Collaboration with team members to understand current business scenario, able to convert the business requirements into a technical solution and able to communicate the results of the solutions to the collaborators

Amazing Relationships: 

Collaboration with data strategists, data management team, product owners & technology/platform teams to ensure accurate data and proper infrastructure is in place Collaboration with business partners so as to understand the business scenario and challenges Collaboration with external vendors (if any) to ensure their service/product offering is used in the right manner to develop the solution

Thought Leadership:

Identification of potential opportunities to drive Data Science competence in various business Units Lead the Proof of Concept (POC) development for a new business area and convert it into a full-fledged solution Mentor & lead junior members of the team

Candidate requisites:

MBA/Masters in business analytics/data science/statistics/economics or a degree in Engineering or Computer Science Atleast 8+ years’ of solid Data Science experience, with 5+ years’ developing teams at a leading multinational company Proven ability to influence and drive analytics adoption with senior team members across markets Ability to lead programs, vendors, and cross functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Finance) Solid experience in deploying Revenue Growth Management solutions, having delivered programs for atleast 3 markets Experience of working in Pricing Analytics, Trade-Promo Effectiveness & optimization, SKU assortment planning and other critical areas of commercial analytics. Experience in building Machine Learning models in RGM, having set up scenario planning tools Proficiency in MS- Office Suits (Excel & PPT), SQL, Python, PySpark and experience working with large datasets Hands on experience with Databricks and Azure platform is a plus Knowledge of MLOps standard methodologies is a good to have
