**What the role is all about:**

We're seeking a Senior Engineer – Cloud (3-5 years' experience) who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of REA's cutting-edge products. You'll take a multifaceted approach to ensure technical excellence and operational efficiency within the infrastructure domain. By strategically integrating automation, monitoring and incident response, you facilitate the evolution from traditional operations to a more customer-focused and agile approach.

**While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include:**

• Analyze both technical and business needs to remedy, design and implement solutions that enhance system reliability, fault tolerance, and response times.

• Collaborate across REA with development teams to ensure reliable system design from the start and recommend best practices.

• Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, driving continuous improvement and optimizing system performance.

• Provide detailed technical analysis of issues, lead remediation plans for mitigation and prevention.

• Take ownership and accountability of deliverables.

• Mentor other team members.

**Who we are looking for:**

• 3+ Experience writing developer tooling in a general-purpose programming language such as Go or Python with a focus on Kubernetes, migration automation, and improving developer user experience.

• 3+ years of experience in cloud platforms like AWS, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure automation tools.

• Deep expertise in troubleshooting, wielding logs, tracing, and monitoring tools (Splunk) to gain comprehensive system insights and proactively identify potential issues.

• Fine-tune application and infrastructure performance to ensure seamless scaling under various load patterns, keeping user experience top-notch.

• Demonstrate understanding of SLI/SLO/SLA metrics, chaos engineering principles, and user monitoring techniques to guide informed decision-making.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to conduct capacity planning and scalability assessments, designing solutions for current and future growth.

• Effectively communicate complex solutions to audiences with varying technical backgrounds, fostering consensus and collaboration.

**Bonus Points for:**

• Experience with Ruby, Shell, Buildkite, or PagerDuty or experience with any scripting language
