Role Overview:

We are looking for a Staff Data Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and technical direction of the company’s platform. As a Staff Data Engineer, you will work on complex, high-impact projects and drive innovation across our core infrastructure, building scalable systems that power the company’s data collaboration platform. You will collaborate closely with other engineering leaders, product teams, and cross-functional teams to ensure the company’s platform remains reliable, performant, and secure as they scale.


Responsibilities:

  • Architect and Design Scalable Systems: Lead the design and architecture of core systems, ensuring they can handle large-scale data collaboration workloads while maintaining high performance and reliability.
  • Drive Technical Strategy: Collaborate with engineering leadership to define the long-term technical roadmap and ensure alignment with business objectives. Be a thought leader in core engineering, pushing for best practices in system design and development.
  • Mentor and Lead Teams: Provide technical mentorship to engineers across the organization. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the engineering team.
  • Hands-on Development: Be involved in coding and solving critical problems across the system. Lead by example with a high standard of code quality, testing, and reliability.
  • Optimize Performance: Analyze and optimize the performance of the platform. Build efficient, reusable, and scalable solutions for handling high throughput, low-latency data operations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data engineers, and platform engineers to ensure the company's core services meet the growing needs of customers.
  • Enhance Security and Compliance: Develop systems with a focus on security, data privacy, and compliance, ensuring that the company meets industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR).


Key Requirements:

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience , with a focus on backend systems, cloud infrastructure, or distributed systems.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and building cloud-native applications.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python , Java , or Go , and hands-on experience with microservices architecture .
  • In-depth knowledge of data architecture and distributed systems, with a focus on performance, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience working with modern data infrastructure tools such as Kubernetes , Apache Kafka , Airflow , dbt , and Snowflake .
  • Solid understanding of databases (SQL and NoSQL), data warehouses, and metadata management.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership and mentoring, guiding engineering teams through design, development, and deployment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data engineering tools and frameworks, particularly in integrating complex data systems.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices , CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based infrastructure automation.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced startup environment is a plus.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or experience in the data community.
