About TechOps: Technology Operations (TechOps) team is bridging the interface between our international customer organization for Koerber pharmaceutical software and the internal product support, business solutions, product infrastructure and deployment operations teams. It acts as a one stop shop for 2nd Level Support and escalation management team to ensure our customers receive best in class support and responses. The TechOps vision is to ensure 24/7 operations of our PAS X-MES products and support in the SaaS and OnPrem environment.
Job Summary: The NOC Engineer is responsible for the real-time monitoring and maintenance of the organization's product infrastructure, business processes and SaaS environments, ensuring network and system availability. As part of a new team the engineer will proactively identify, escalate, and resolve potential network, system, service issues while helping build 24/7 observability and monitoring operation.
This role requires strong analytical skills, technical knowledge, sense of urgency, very good understanding of business criticality and a strong communication skills combined with the ability to work in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Real-time Network & System Monitoring:
• Monitor the performance and availability of the organization’s network, servers, applications, and other infrastructure components using monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Zabbix, Nagios, splunk, grafana, opensearch).
• Anticipate and mitigate potential network, server, and application issues, ensuring uptime and minimal service disruption.
• Respond to system alerts and investigate issues, providing timely resolutions or escalating to the appropriate teams. Incident Management & Escalation:
• Serve as the first point of contact for detecting and addressing incidents that affect service availability.
• Analyze and triage incidents, escalating to Level 2/3 engineers or relevant departments as necessary.
• Maintain communication with internal teams and external vendors during outages or critical incidents to ensure proper coordination and resolution.
• Track and document all incidents, ensuring accurate and detailed records for follow-up actions.
• Ability to lead emergency response sessions and war rooms.
• Analyze and coordinate problem management efforts. System Health & Performance Reporting:
• Generate and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reports on system health, performance metrics, and downtime incidents.
• Provide insight into trends, recurring issues, and potential problem areas for preventive action.
• Propose and implement optimizations based on analysis of network and system performance data.
• Routine Maintenance:
• Assist in scheduling and conducting routine maintenance tasks, including network configuration changes, software updates, and backups.
• Monitor maintenance windows to ensure minimal disruption and assist in post-maintenance verification to ensure services are back online. Automation & Tool Optimization:
• Work with the engineering teams to improve monitoring systems and automation tools.
• Assist in the configuration and optimization of monitoring tools to detect new services or devices that need monitoring.
• Develop and maintain scripts to automate repetitive tasks and improve monitoring efficiency.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
• Document troubleshooting steps, incident resolutions, and best practices for future reference.
• Create and update NOC knowledge base articles and internal procedures.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Coordinate with various IT teams (network, server, application) to ensure seamless monitoring and swift issue resolution.
• Participate in team meetings to review incident trends, ongoing projects, and areas of improvement.
Skills & Qualifications: Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, OSPF) and network components (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Experience with network and infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, or similar).
• Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows systems.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualized infrastructure.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes, including incident, problem, and change management. Soft Skills: • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A team player with a collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a 24x7 environment.
Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field (preferred). Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or similar, are a plus.
Experience: 8+ years of overall experience and 4+ years of relevant experience in a NOC, network monitoring, or technical support role.
Hands-on experience with monitoring and ticketing systems in a 24x7 environment. Working Hours:
Must be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. On-call responsibilities as required.
