Role : Release Manager

Position Summary :

The Release Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing software releases across multiple parallel workstreams, ensuring smooth transitions from development to production. You will work closely with Product Managers, Scrum Masters, DevOps Engineers, and other stakeholders to define the release process, maintain release schedules, and troubleshoot issues. This role is crucial in maintaining the stability and integrity of our platform while supporting continuous delivery practices.

Key Responsibilities :

Release Planning & Coordination :

- Plan and manage the release schedules for multiple scrum teams, coordinating with Product Managers, Scrum Masters, and DevOps Engineers.

- Facilitate release planning meetings to align on release content, timelines, dependencies, and risk factors.

Code Integration Management :


- Oversee code merges, conflict resolution, and integration of features into main branches, working closely with DevOps engineers to ensure compliance with integration protocols.

- Manage code freeze periods, branch cut-offs, and release branching strategies to prevent code collisions and integration errors.

Communication & Reporting :

- Provide clear communication to stakeholders about release plans, progress, risks, and issues.

- Create and maintain release dashboards, highlighting key metrics such as release cadence, deployment success rate, and time-to-production.

Process Improvement :


- Continuously refine release processes to enhance reliability, speed, and efficiency, incorporating automation and best practices for multi-team release management


- Work with the DevOps team to improve CI/CD pipelines, focusing on reducing the risk of deployment failures and increasing release frequency.

Qualifications :

- Experience : 5+ years of experience in software release management, preferably in a cloud-native, multi-team SaaS environment.

- Technical Expertise : Strong understanding of CI/CD processes, cloud platforms (AWS), and release automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodeDeploy).

- Integration & Deployment : Hands-on experience with version control (Git), branch management, and deployment strategies (e.g., blue-green, canary).

- Risk & Quality Management : Solid experience in risk assessment, QA planning, and incident management within release processes.

- Project Management : Excellent organizational and project management skills to handle multiple concurrent releases, resolve dependencies, and coordinate cross functional teams.

Additional Considerations :

- Collaboration : Ability to work closely with Product Managers, DevOps Engineers, and scrum teams to align on release goals and ensure smooth delivery.

- Proactive Mindset : The Release Manager should drive process improvements actively, fostering a culture of continuous delivery, learning, and iterative enhancement.

- Hands-on : This role may require hands-on troubleshooting and adjustments within the CI/CD pipeline, deployment scripts, and monitoring tools to ensure production readiness.
