You will be joining a team that has, on a bootstrap budget, built a strong cash-flow generating business with over 25,000 quality assured professional freelancers on the platform, and over 100 global enterprises including some of the biggest global consulting firms and financial services companies out there (wish we could name them, but we can’t)

Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Development Engineer II (SDE-2) to join our dynamic team at Outsized. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in software development with a strong background in React.js, Node.js, Python, and AWS. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and microservices, optimizing them for performance and scalability. Additionally, experience with WordPress development and custom integrations will be highly valued. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient web applications using React.js, Node.js, and Python.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Develop serverless applications and microservices on AWS, leveraging services such as Lambda, API Gateway, and AWS RDS.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software.
  • Ensure the security, performance, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Work closely with UX/UI designers to implement user-friendly interfaces.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Manage continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines on AWS.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of WordPress-based applications and integrations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript Frameworks: Strong proficiency in at least one JavaScript framework such as React.js, Vue.js, or AngularJS, demonstrating the ability to leverage these frameworks to enhance frontend development within the WordPress environment.
  • Proficiency Node.js, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with serverless architectures and microservices, Strong experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, etc.).
  • Experience with WordPress development and custom integrations.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Proactive Problem Solver: A proactive problem solver with excellent analytical skills, capable of identifying and resolving issues efficiently to ensure project success.
  • Version Control and Database Management: Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and proficiency in using MySQL/PhpMyAdmin for database management, ensuring efficient collaboration and data integrity.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Next.js and SSR development.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization.
  • Familiarity with serverless technology
  • Experience with RESTful API design and development.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.

The salary range for this position is competitive and based on experience and qualifications.
