Roles & Responsibilities

Our projects also include marine habitat mapping (protected marine areas)Typically a project will include:- Mapping the seabed substrate in categories based on sediment softness/roughness and coverage of larger rocks/stones (typically based on side scan sonar data and ground truthing from underwater drone videos (ROV) and grab samples)- Mapping the bathymetry (typically based on single or multibeam data )- Mapping the carrying capacity of the seabed/subsurface and overall geological lithology (sand, silt, clay, till, limestone, peat) and geological setting (marine sand banks, buried channels, glacial outcrop etc.) (Shallow seismics
like pinger, sparker or boomer)- Various GIS
analyses and map producing
A typical workflow of a project1) Survey planning (Maps and planning of stations / geophysical lines etc.)2) Survey execution3) Data processing of sub bottom profiling data and Side scan sonar data (filtering out noise, applying layback on side scan sonar, applying gain functions, working with coordinates, importing and exporting files from SonarWiz etc.)4) Data interpretation (interpreting side scan sonar or shallow seismics in relation to the local geology, sediment characteristics and geomorphology. The interpretation progress includes integrated model by comparing the different geophysical data as described, hereby also drilling data.5) Reporting (making relevant maps and figures showing the interpreted results and writing data reports (field reports, technical reports, baseline reports) or environmental assessments.
Key skills needed in the job- A geological or geophysical background, and will to learn about the Danish geological history and classification methods.- Experience with geophysical data processing and interpreting (Especially: side scan sonar
