Surveyor – Construction

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Surveyor to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out land and building surveys, preparing site plans, setting out construction work, and ensuring accurate measurement and data collection. You will play a critical role in the planning, design, and execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct site surveys to determine exact locations and measurements of structures, boundaries, and topographical features.
• Perform setting out duties for construction works including buildings, roads, and utilities.
• Interpret architectural and engineering plans and transfer them to the physical environment.
• Utilize GPS, total stations, levels, and other surveying instruments accurately.
• Prepare detailed reports, maps, and drawings from survey data.
• Monitor and verify alignment, elevation, and other geometric aspects of construction projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to ensure survey data meets project needs.
• Maintain proper documentation and records of all surveying activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and construction regulations.
• Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues found during construction.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a construction or land surveyor (typically 2+ years).
• Proficiency in using surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Strong knowledge of construction and engineering principles.
• Attention to detail with excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and plans.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license (if site travel is required).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with drones or laser scanning (LiDAR) for surveys.
• Knowledge of local land use and zoning laws.
• Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) practices.

Working Conditions:

• Primarily site-based; may involve working in varying weather conditions.
• May require occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project needs.
