Role:
Compliance: Help ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing environmental protection, occupational health, and safety in both the healthcare and real estate related sectors. This includes regulations set forth by agencies such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), and local health departments.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and risks within facilities and properties, such as exposure to hazardous substances, ergonomic risks, fire hazards, and infectious diseases. Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine appropriate mitigation strategies.
Policy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the specific needs and operations of both healthcare and real estate components of the business. This may involve collaborating with various stakeholders, including management, healthcare professionals, real estate managers, and regulatory agencies.
Training and Education: Provide training and educational programs to raise awareness about safety protocols, emergency response procedures, infection control measures, and environmental sustainability practices.
Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. This includes maintaining detailed incident records and reporting requirements as mandated by regulatory agencies.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans facilities, including procedures for evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and hazardous material spills along with the Fire Safety Officer
Environmental Management: Implement strategies to minimize the environmental impact of business operations, such as waste management, energy conservation, pollution prevention, and sustainable practices.
Collaboration and Communication: Foster collaboration and communication among various departments and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship throughout the organization. This includes regular meetings, safety committees, and communication channels for reporting concerns or suggestions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, safety management, or similar.
OSHA or similar EHS certification. List any licenses or certifications required by the position: OSHA, ISO, EHS, OHSAS, ISO14001, CSP, CIH, OHSAS18001, HAZ, VPP
Develop strategic direction on assigned Company remediation sites to reduce risks and costs.
A minimum of 10 years of EHS experience including site remediation, with at least two years in a management role and three years in an EHS auditing role
Track record of leading EHS audit programs, M&A and site remediation programs creating increased awareness, heightened standards, and improved performance at individual site locations and across a Company
Experience working with management and data collection systems.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new strategic initiatives.
Ability to work in a matrixed, team-oriented environment.
