Job Description Analytics Engineer (Looker + BigQuery)

Location: India ( Remote )
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Analytics Engineer/ Data Analyst / BI Developer with deep expertise in Looker and Google BigQuery to join our growing data team. This role will play a key part in designing scalable data models, building efficient SQL queries, and creating impactful dashboards and reporting solutions. You will collaborate closely with business and product teams to deliver analytics that drive informed decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain LookML models in Looker to support self-service analytics.
  • Build scalable and reusable data pipelines and transformations in BigQuery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate reporting needs into efficient data models, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance optimization across dashboards and queries.
  • Define and implement centralized business metrics for consistent reporting.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (data engineering, product, business) to align analytics with business goals.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Looker dashboards, BigQuery performance, and data pipeline issues.
  • Stay updated with best practices in BI, analytics engineering, and cloud data platforms.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as an Analytics Engineer, BI Developer, or Data Analyst with strong technical ownership.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (preferably Google BigQuery).
  • Hands-on experience with Looker (LookML, Explores, Views, PDTs, user permissions).
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema, slowly changing dimensions).
  • Experience with data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms (preferably GCP).
  • Ability to optimize SQL queries and Looker Explores for performance and scalability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets.
  • Excellent communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative LookML development.
  • Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) for transformation modeling.
  • Exposure to other BI tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration tools (Airflow, Cloud Composer).

Preferred candidate profile

Preferred candidate should have 5+ years in BI/Analytics, expertise in Looker, BigQuery, SQL optimization, data warehousing concepts, cloud data platforms, and ability to build scalable, impactful dashboards and reporting solutions.
