Position Summary:
The Operational Learning and Performance (OLP) team provides innovative and digital learning, quality, and knowledge management solutions to the Canadian Operations business lines. Our solutions are aligned to the overall strategy and vision for Canadian Operations and enable our business partners to provide client centric service excellence.
Reporting to the Director, Operational Learning and Performance (OLP), the Manager Design, Business and OLP Capability Centre leads a talented team of Learning Designers and Coordinators supporting OLP in building and improving the performance of our Canadian Operations business partners.
The Manager Design is responsible for assigning and coordinating the Learning Designers work, coaching and professional development, and performance management, as well as providing overall leadership of instructional design strategies and strategic planning for the team. The manager helps ensure that the multitude of projects and initiatives are completed successfully, on-time, and employing sound design and development practices.
This role requires an engaging and experienced learning leader with a passion for learning, continuous improvement; creative thinker, proficient in project management and consulting; with strong influencing skills, who can develop and maintain relationships while contributing to a collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide visionary leadership to our team of Learning Designers, guiding them in creating impactful and innovative learning solutions.
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Learning Designers and Coordinators responsible for the creation of learning and development programs and solutions.
Establish and evolve the team’s vision, goals and initiatives aligned to Canadian Operations vision, business goals and overall OLP team strategy and OKR’s.
Establish and improve a consistent process and standards for creating learning and development within the team and with internal business partners aligned to industry standards, trends and technology.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging creativity and professional growth within the team.
Manage the operational workflow including intake process, resource plan and project schedule to drive team efficiencies and focus.
Ensure deliverables are tracked, measured, reported and resources are effectively allocated.
Oversee the design and implementation of comprehensive learning and development programs that align with the organization's objectives, design standards, guidelines and templates to support the Instructional Design process. Support instructional design methods including ADDIE, Agile and SAM.
Build strong relationships with internal partners, external vendors, industry experts, to gather input, ensure alignment and drive new and innovative thinking and design solutions.
Create and deliver a modern learning experience utilizing on-line, digital, and virtual platforms and learning techniques.
Influence the selection of and ongoing updates to learning technology platforms, LMS and self serve learning platform, ensuring it’s aligned to the business strategy and needs of our business partners.
Collaborate with other OLP colleagues and leaders to ensure that design solutions are aligned to the needs of the business and OLP’s OKR’s.
Qualifications and Experience:
3 - 5 years leadership experience, preferably leading a learning instructional design team.
University education in adult education or instructional design an asset
Exceptional leadership, coaching and people management skills with the ability to inspire develop and leverage strengths on the team for optimum results, collaboration, and efficiency.
Expertise in digital learning solutions and technology including experience with LMS’s.
Expert knowledge of modern adult learning techniques, instructional design (ADDIE, SAM etc.) creative writing, and best practices for learning design teams.
Strong relationship building skills, ability to develop and foster crucial business relationships with internal and external business partners to achieve optimal results.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including written, oral and presentation.
Strong strategic mindset, critical thinking and sense-making skills to drive improvement in processes and to continuously develop learning practices towards a mature state.
Ability to collaborate across team and Canadian Operations.
Demonstrates a growth and change mindset with progressive and creative thinking to drive change and continual improvement.
Demonstrates initiative, strong analytical, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
Experience in managing resources assigned to projects with changing priorities.
Ability to effectively manage multiple activities for multiple initiatives of varying complexity while under time constraints.
High degree of initiative, self-organization, and self-management skills to work with minimal direction while effectively responding to emerging challenges.
