We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to help lead, develop, implement, and maintain a variety of applications, services and APIs used within our global content platform. You will work closely with all company departments to learn and understand the requirements needed to grow our current apps. If you are the kind of lead engineer who is passionate about bringing great products to life, being a rockstar engineer who loves working in a collaborative environment with your product partners and dependency teams, then we want to talk to you.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend systems using PHP.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of all applications and data.
  • Document code, processes, and development workflows.
  • Function as an engineering leader on an agile team to build scalable software solutions through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation).
  • Lead code reviews and manage Pull Requests reviews.
  • Lead and contribute towards engineering excellence in areas like automated unit testing.
  • Work closely with product owners in defining the product and engineering roadmap.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and maintain the core product software and databases to ensure strong optimization and functionality.
  • Lead the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across development and production environments.
  • Assist in automating deployments to development and other environments.
  • Work to ensure all applications can scale and attempt to develop self-healing solutions.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal leadership and drive the team to be self-reliant in achieving team goals.
  • Influence team members with innovative changes and improvements by challenging the status quo.
  • Be a productivity multiplier for your team by analyzing your workflow and contributing to enabling the team to be more effective and productive, demonstrating faster and better results.
  • Mentor and guide team members to success within the team.


Requirements:


  • 7+ years of experience with web application frameworks such as Symfony, Laravel, React, or similar.
  • Experience with data-driven architecture and systems design, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Proficiency utilizing SQL, NoSQL, in-memory, and distributed SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, AuroraDB)
  • Experience integrating with 3rd party APIs, external frameworks, and libraries
  • Expert-level understanding and implementation of cloud-native architectures (AWS serverless or containers preferred) at scale in production
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of software design principles such as SOLID and DRY with Software as a Service (SaaS), multi-tenancy application development
  • Embraces the concepts of Agile Scrum software development and its related collaboration and issue-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Rally)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Ability to triage and resolve incidents and lead incident investigations.
  • Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to and be a voice of reason.
