Role Summary

We are looking for a seasoned SQL Server DBA with 4+ years of experience in managing, maintaining, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, and security of our database systems while supporting development and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances (2012–2022)
  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies
  • Manage backups, restores, and disaster recovery plans
  • Set up and maintain high availability solutions (Always On, Log Shipping, Replication)
  • Implement and enforce database security policies and access controls
  • Automate maintenance tasks using SQL Server Agent and PowerShell
  • Troubleshoot database issues including deadlocks, blocking, and slow queries
  • Collaborate with developers to optimize queries and support deployments
  • Maintain documentation for database architecture, procedures, and policies

Required Skills

  • Strong expertise in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and T-SQL
  • Experience with backup/restore strategies, recovery models, and maintenance plans
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, and execution plans
  • Proficiency in security management, including roles, permissions, and auditing
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, or third-party solutions

Additional Skills

  • Knowledge and hands on PostgreSQL

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Certifications such as MCSA: SQL Server, MCSE: Data Platform, or Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • Experience with cloud-based SQL Server deployments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for database changes
