We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Estimator (MEP) with expertise in lighting, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Cost Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, preparing detailed proposals, and responding to Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Quotations (RFQ). The successful candidate should have a strong background in reading engineering plans and specifications, possess comprehensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, and be proficient in cross-functional coordination to ensure accurate and competitive cost estimates.


Responsibilities:

1. Review and analyze project requirements, including engineering plans, specifications, and contractual documents, to develop a comprehensive understanding of project scope and objectives.

2. Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for lighting systems, including fixtures, controls, wiring, and associated electrical and mechanical components.

3. Collaborate with the design and engineering teams to ensure alignment between project requirements and cost estimates, providing suggestions for value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.

4. Utilize industry-standard software and tools to generate cost estimates, perform quantity takeoffs, and create detailed breakdowns of material, labor, and other project-related costs.

5. Research and analyze cost data from various sources, including suppliers, contractors, and historical project data, to ensure reliable and up-to-date cost estimates.

6. Prepare and submit timely and accurate responses to RFPs and RFQs, including detailed cost breakdowns, project schedules, and other required documentation.

7. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to identify and evaluate potential subcontractors and suppliers, obtaining competitive bids and quotes for project-related materials and services.

8. Use the existing team in the use to assess existing conditions, and identify any potential cost implications.

9. Continuously monitor and track industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and up-to-date cost estimates.

10. Assist in contract negotiations and value engineering efforts, providing cost-related insights and recommendations to optimize project budget and profitability.


Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, options but preferred Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

2. Proven experience as a Cost Estimator, preferably in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) field, with a focus on lighting systems.

3. Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including lighting fixtures, controls, wiring, and associated components.

4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.

5. Solid experience in preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates, including quantity takeoffs, material costs, labor costs, and subcontractor costs.

6. Familiarity with industry-standard cost estimation software and tools, such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, RSMeans, or similar applications.

7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.

8. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

9. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present detailed cost estimates and proposals to clients and stakeholders.

10. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables within tight deadlines.
