Hyderabad, India HME Solutions Full time

About HME Solutions

HME Solutions is a leading innovator in the global mining industry, specialising in the development of advanced Hardware, Technology, and SaaS-based Fleet Management Solutions (FMS) for heavy mining equipment (HME). Our flagship platform, FMS Live, integrates cutting-edge GNSS machine guidance and automation technologies to drive productivity, precision, and efficiency in both surface and underground mining environments.

Headquartered in Perth, Australia, HME Solutions is rapidly expanding into international markets to meet growing demand. As part of this growth, we are investing in a world-class administrative and technical support hub in Hyderabad, India—home to our software and infrastructure engineering teams. This office plays a critical role in supporting our global operations and driving innovation in mining technology.

Role Overview

We are seeking a technically proficient and hands-on
Hardware Engineer
to join our fast-growing engineering team at HME Solutions' new development centre in Hitec City, Hyderabad. This role focuses on the design, validation, integration, and ongoing support of rugged embedded hardware and sensor systems used in real-world mining environments.

You will play a central role in the end-to-end lifecycle of HME's proprietary hardware platforms, ranging from reverse engineering and vehicle interface mapping to CAN protocol diagnostics, edge integration, and support for GNSS-based control and telemetry modules.

The ideal candidate will bring deep practical knowledge of automotive or industrial electronics, be comfortable working across bench and field environments, and thrive in a multidisciplinary engineering culture that spans embedded systems, mechatronics, and cloud-connected mining technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interface with automotive and industrial control systems using Automotive
    CAN, CAN FD
    , and
    CAN Open
protocols; configure, debug, and validate communication with ECUs and controllers.
  • Develop and support
    PLC logic
for system control and industrial automation.
  • Perform reverse engineering on third-party or legacy hardware, including signal tracing, schematic recovery, and interface mapping.
  • Participate in embedded system integration—working across firmware, Analog or Digital I/O and/or sensors, and control interfaces.
  • Conduct in-depth diagnostics using logic analysers, CAN analysers, oscilloscopes, and test instrumentation.
  • Support schematic validation, PCB-level debugging, and bring-up of new hardware.
  • Define test procedures, perform functional validation, and document hardware behaviour under varying load and environmental conditions.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure full-stack system interoperability in mining environments.
  • Provide support during field testing and deployment, including debugging at the edge (on mobile equipment in live mine sites).
  • Build and maintain an internal hardware compatibility matrix for supported mining equipment models and OEMs (CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, etc.).
  • Lead bench testing and environmental stress testing (vibration, temperature, EMI) to validate hardware performance under mining conditions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including wiring schematics, hardware configuration guides, and diagnostic flowcharts.
  • Assist with regulatory and compliance preparation (EMC, CE, FCC) for hardware products, where applicable.
  • Collaborate with the product and QA teams to simulate edge scenarios and fault modes for hardware validation.
  • Participate in cross-site collaboration with HME Australia and mine-site teams during active deployment cycles.
  • Provide technical training and mentoring to junior technicians or support engineers during hardware rollouts.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5-7 years of hands-on experience in embedded hardware engineering or automotive electronics.
  • Solid working knowledge and hand on experience on Automotive CAN,
    CAN Open
    ,
    CAN FD
  • Work experience with integrating Analog / Digital IO's and Sensors.
  • Good understanding and knowledge on embed systems development and integration.
  • Practical experience with
    PLC programming
    for automation or control systems.
  • Experience in hardware-level fault isolation, bus signal analysis, and interface debugging.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools: CAN bus analysers (Vector, Peak, Kvaser), oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Strong understanding of digital and analogue circuit behaviour, grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation in harsh environments.
  • Experience with reverse engineering hardware or analysing undocumented systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and datasheets.
  • Understanding of power systems (12V/24V), automotive-grade signal conditioning, and protection circuitry in harsh environments.
  • Experience developing or supporting sensor-based systems (IMUs, RTK GNSS, load sensors, temperature sensors, etc.).
  • Ability to assess EMI/ESD sensitivity and mitigate issues in equipment exposed to industrial RF environments.
  • Familiarity with firmware bootloaders or flashing procedures for field-deployed embedded devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Experience in automotive, heavy vehicle, or off-highway equipment electronics.
  • Familiarity with embedded C for hardware diagnostics or system monitoring.
  • Exposure to PCB design tools (Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCAD).
  • Experience in system integration for real-time telemetry or data acquisition platforms.
  • Knowledge of ISO 11898 or J1939 standards for heavy vehicle electronics.
  • Proficiency with environmental validation tools and lab equipment for field-ready systems.
  • Exposure to Modbus, RS-485, or similar legacy fieldbus protocols.
  • Prior experience working with mining, construction, or agriculture equipment control systems.
