We are hiring for one of the Renowned Buying Agency
Job Title: Leather Technician
Location – Vellore
Department: Footwear
Experience: 6 to 10 years
Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate suppliers for leather materials, ensuring quality and reliability.
- Resolve any material incidence issues promptly and efficiently to minimize production disruptions.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to develop new leather products and improve existing ones.
- Oversee leather development processes, including testing, prototyping, and finalization.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to established procedures and standards throughout the production process.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to leather production.
- Maintain awareness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards and implement practices to uphold them.
- In-depth knowledge of leather types, finishes, and their application in footwear production.
- Proficiency in quality control methods, including testing for tensile strength, colorfastness, and durability.
- Conduct comprehensive quality checks at each stage of shoe production, from leather preparation through final assembly, to ensure consistency in color, texture, and durability.
- Strong understanding of the shoe manufacturing process and leather requirements for footwear.
- Experience working with industry standards and environmental regulations for leather production.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to ensure the quality of leather meets company and industry standards.
- Work with teams to meet specific leather requirements for different shoe models and styles.
- Identify and address production issues related to leather, such as cracking, uneven dyeing, or weakening of material, minimizing wastage and rework.
- Implement corrective measures in the event of leather defects or quality issues and ensure that non-conforming materials are isolated and addressed immediately.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Leather Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Leather Technician or similar role in the fashion industry.
- In-depth knowledge of leather production processes and materials.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Familiarity with CSR principles and their application in the leather industry.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
