Job Description

As a Engineering Applications Support Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of Western Digital's Engineering Applications. This position demands a blend of strong technical proficiency in Infrastructure, Operating System Administration, Java, Windows Application Management, Web Application Management tools. You will collaborate closely with various teams across IT to seamlessly integrate and optimize engineering applications, thus empowering engineering teams to develop and deliver high-quality products efficiently. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

Quick learner to support Eng Applications like Polarion, JMP, Minitab, iObeya, Ansys, Beyond Compare, SolidWorks, MATLAB, BricsCAD

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Engineering Applications such as SolidWorks, Brics CAD, JMP, Minitab, Matlab, Polarion ALM, iObeya. 

Strong expertise in Windows Application Management or Mac Application Management

Install, Upgrade and License management for the Engineering applications 

Analyze and resolve issues related to Server Connectivity, Application Access, Client Configurations 

Create Application Management Dashboard and Customize the Web based applications using Java based APIs 

Able to package, document, deploy, and troubleshoot engineering applications with the help from various sources such as from vendor and other publicly available forums 

Able to troubleshoot installation scripts written in Win Batch or Linux Shell or Power Shell 

Able to troubleshoot web applications hosted on Tomcat and Apache HTTP 

Able to troubleshoot java runtime errors and application malfunction. 

Able to document and publish contents on SharePoint and OneNote 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 

3+ years of hands-on technical leadership experience in IT and software development teams. 

Proven experience in application and system support roles, with a focus on Engineering Applications 

Strong expertise in Windows operating systems and Mac Application Management 

Proficiency in programming language such as Java, VB, C# .Net

Preferred knowledge of Engineering tools such as Solidwords, CAD Tools, JMP, Matlab, ALM tools. 

Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Power Shell, Windows batch Programming 

Hands-on experience on MySQL or Oracle DB 

Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat modeling, and risk assessment methodologies. 

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with an attention to detail. 

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. 

Experience supporting a large number of users and developers, providing platform as a service. 

Proven ability to influence and lead high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
