Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Astrochemistry Faculty member to join our team. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching Astrochemistry, space science-related courses, conducting experiments and allied practical activities, conducting research, working on research papers, and fostering an inspiring learning environment for students interested in space exploration, astronomy, and related fields. The candidate will have a strong background in both chemistry and astronomy and will explore the chemical processes that occur in space, with an emphasis on the molecular components of astronomical phenomena.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaching and Curriculum Development:
- Teach Astrochemistry, space science-related subjects, including astronomy, astrochemistry, cryogenic chemistry, chemical equations, and reactions as per syllabus.
- Develop and implement engaging lessons, hands-on activities, field works and practical lab sessions.
- Prepare instructional materials such as lectures, presentations, and assignments.
- Conduct assessments and provide feedback to students to foster learning and improvement.
- Shall undertake academic administrative roles and responsibilities.
- Research and Professional Development:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and research in space science.
- Engage in research projects that align with the KCSA's academic goals.
- Encourage student participation in science, space science-related projects, research, competitions, and outreach activities.
- Student Engagement:
- Mentor and advice students on academic and career-related matters.
- Provide guidance on research projects, particularly in space science-related fields.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Nurture young minds with scientific attitude.
4. Research and Publications:
o Research publications : Faculty members are expected to have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. This demonstrates their ability to conduct and contribute to advanced research in astrochemistry and space science. Shall participate in research conferences to present research works.
o Research Focus : Faculty often have expertise in specific areas, such as cosmology, observational or theoretical astrochemistry, chemical reactions, interstellar chemistry, or high-energy astrophysics.
o Research Grants : Successful faculty members usually apply for and obtain research funding from government agencies or private foundations.
- Collaboration and Outreach:
- Collaborate with other faculty members in interdisciplinary projects.
- Organize and participate in space science outreach activities, such as guest lectures, seminars, webinars, field trips to observatories, or space camps.
- Engage with the local community and help increase interest in space science.
Qualifications:
- Educational Requirements:
- A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Astrophysics, Astronomy, with a focus on astrochemistry or a closely related field.
- Experience:
- Prior teaching experience of two-three years, especially at the high school or college level, is preferred.
- Experience in conducting/handling practical and allied activities.
- Familiarity with modern space science tools, telescopes, apparatus, simulation software, and lab equipment is a must.
- Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging for KCSA students.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- A self-motivated and passionate for space science and a desire to inspire students.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in science education.
