Role & responsibilities : Cassandra Database

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable Apache Cassandra clusters.
  • Develop and optimize data models for high-volume applications.
  • Monitor database performance and tune for speed and reliability.
  • Handle backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high-availability configurations.
  • Implement security best practices for data access and storage.
  • Collaborate with development teams on schema design, query optimization, and data flow.
  • Automate routine database tasks using scripts or tools.
  • Perform capacity planning, scaling strategies, and database upgrades.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide production support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • (35+) years of hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra.
  • Strong understanding of NoSQL concepts, CAP theorem, and distributed database architecture.
  • Proficiency in CQL (Cassandra Query Language).
  • Experience with Cassandra monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, DataStax OpsCenter).
  • Familiarity with data modeling for wide-column databases.
  • Knowledge of Java/Python/Shell scripting for automation.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DataStax Enterprise or other Cassandra distributions.
  • Knowledge of Kafka, Spark, or other Big Data tools.
  • Certification in Cassandra (e.g., DataStax Certified Cassandra Developer or Administrator).
  • Previous experience in high-availability and multi-region deployments.
