Position Overview :


The DLP and Data Classification Consultant, specializing in Fotra and Boldon James, will offer expert guidance on implementing and managing advanced Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and data classification solutions for clients. This consultant will focus on leveraging Fotra’s data discovery and classification tools alongside Boldon James' classification and labeling solutions to safeguard sensitive information across organizational networks, endpoints, and cloud environments. The role involves integrating these tools into the client's security infrastructure, optimizing data security policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. DLP Implementation and Configuration (Fotra & Boldon James):
  • Deploy and configure DLP solutions using Fotra’s data discovery and protection tools to monitor, detect, and prevent data loss.
  • Integrate Boldon James classification and labeling solutions to categorize and label data based on sensitivity, ensuring accurate handling and protection.
  • Work with clients to customize DLP policies , ensuring they align with business processes, security policies, and regulatory mandates (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
  • Monitor DLP systems to ensure effective protection of sensitive data in transit, at rest, and in use, across emails, networks, endpoints, and cloud environments.
  • Regularly audit the DLP system to optimize policies and fine-tune detection mechanisms, minimizing false positives while ensuring protection.
  1. Data Classification Frameworks (Fotra & Boldon James):
  • Design and implement a data classification framework using Boldon James for labeling structured and unstructured data, including email, documents, databases, and files.
  • Configure automated classification rules with Fotra and Boldon James to ensure consistent application of labels across all data assets.
  • Educate stakeholders on the importance of proper data classification and train them on how to apply labels manually and automatically.
  • Align data classification efforts with the organization’s compliance obligations and ensure that data is handled according to its classification level (e.g., public, confidential, restricted).
  1. Integration and Optimization :
  • Integrate Fotra and Boldon James solutions with existing security tools and infrastructure, such as SIEM systems, encryption solutions, and cloud platforms.
  • Ensure seamless integration between data classification and DLP solutions, allowing for real-time enforcement of data security policies based on classification labels.
  • Provide expert advice on enhancing security controls , automating classification and DLP workflows, and optimizing protection for sensitive information.
  • Work closely with the client’s IT and security teams to ensure scalability and flexibility of the implemented solutions, allowing them to adapt to changing business needs.
  1. Compliance and Risk Management :
  • Assess data security risks related to data loss and classification and propose mitigation strategies to ensure compliance with international regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance by ensuring DLP policies and classification frameworks align with legal and industry-specific requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify gaps in data protection and provide recommendations for remediation.
  • Help prepare clients for compliance audits by ensuring that DLP policies, classification labels, and handling procedures are properly documented and enforced.
  1. Incident Response and Breach Management :
  • Respond to DLP and classification-related incidents , providing expertise on investigation, containment, and remediation.
  • Analyze data breaches to determine root causes and recommend improvements to data loss prevention and classification mechanisms.
  • Work with incident response teams to mitigate data breaches and enforce stronger DLP and classification policies to prevent future occurrences.
  1. Client Engagement and Training :
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to educate clients on using Fotra and Boldon James solutions effectively.
  • Provide ongoing support and consultancy to ensure clients understand and follow best practices for data classification, labeling, and DLP.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them continuously improve their data security posture by leveraging the full potential of Fotra and Boldon James.
  1. Reporting and Documentation :
  • Generate detailed reports on the status of data loss prevention and classification efforts, highlighting areas for improvement and policy enforcement.
  • Provide clients with documentation of all configurations, policies, and procedures related to Fotra and Boldon James implementations.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and presentations to update senior leadership on the effectiveness of DLP and data classification initiatives.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications : Certifications like CISSP, CISM, or specialized DLP and data security certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience :
  • 5+ years of experience in data security, with a focus on DLP and data classification.
  • Hands-on experience with Fotra and Boldon James tools, including deploying, configuring, and optimizing these solutions.
  • Strong background in data governance, compliance, and information security management frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
  • Technical Skills :
  • Expertise in Fotra’s DLP and Boldon James classification solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection regulations and their application to DLP and data classification systems.
  • Proficiency in integrating DLP and classification tools with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and on-premises infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with encryption, SIEM, and endpoint protection solutions and how they interact with DLP and data classification policies.
  • Soft Skills :
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills , capable of explaining technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a consulting team, managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing client relationships and delivering successful data security outcomes.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with automation and machine learning tools to streamline classification and DLP processes.
  • Knowledge of data discovery and mapping solutions to identify and classify unstructured data in large organizations.
  • Proficiency in regulatory compliance frameworks and audit preparation related to data security.
