Laboratory Assistant Position Type School Operations Commence Date 27 Jan 2026 Employment Status Permanent / Ongoing FTE/Hours per week Part Time Subject(s)/Grade Grade 3 (+12% superannuation) Role Details Xavier College is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Laboratory Assistant to support our Science faculty with brand new facilities at the Two Wells (R–11) campus. This permanent, part-time position plays an essential role in preparing and maintaining the laboratory environment, ensuring practical science activities are engaging, safe and organised for students and teachers. This role will commence Monday, 27 January 2026 . Working hours are Monday – Friday, 8.00am – 3.00pm, over 41 weeks of the school year. As Laboratory Assistant you will: Prepare and maintain equipment, materials and solutions for practical science lessons, ensuring all activities are conducted safely and efficiently. Support teachers by designing, setting up and demonstrating experiments, explaining scientific concepts, where appropriate. Under teacher direction, assist students during practical activities whilst promoting safe and responsible practices. Manage stock control systems, including ordering, recording and maintaining supplies and equipment. Support risk assessments, safety procedures and ensure all laboratory and storage areas meet WHS standards. Participate in science events and demonstrations that promote STEM learning and student engagement. About You You are an organised, safety conscious and science minded individual with practical skills and a solid understanding of safety. You work well with teachers and students to support learning and bring experience in laboratory environments, good organisational and computer skills, effective communication and have a genuine passion for science.
