Educational Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.- Experience in deploying and managing security solutions integrated with SD-WAN.- Familiarity with other SD-WAN solutions (e.g., Cisco Meraki, Silver Peak, Fortinet).

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated VMware Velocloud SD-WAN Engineer to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of software-defined wide-area networking (SD-WAN) technologies, particularly VMware Velocloud, and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SD-WAN solutions that improve network performance, reliability, and security for our organization.

As a Velocloud SD-WAN Engineer, you will work closely with network engineers, IT teams, and business stakeholders to optimize and modernize our network infrastructure, enabling seamless connectivity across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Implementation:

- Design, implement, and configure VMware Velocloud SD-WAN solutions for enterprise networks.- Configure and optimize SD-WAN appliances, edge devices, and network interfaces to ensure reliable and efficient connectivity across WAN environments.- Perform site assessments and define SD-WAN design strategies that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.

Network Configuration & Troubleshooting:

- Set up SD-WAN controllers, gateways, and edge devices.- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Velocloud SD-WAN components, including device connectivity, routing, and application prioritization.- Provide ongoing support to ensure minimal downtime and consistent network performance.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

- Monitor network performance using VMware Velocloud monitoring tools to ensure optimal traffic flow, application performance, and fault detection.- Optimize SD-WAN configurations for load balancing, application awareness, and traffic steering.- Work with IT teams to identify and mitigate network bottlenecks or issues.

Security & Compliance:

- Implement security policies within Velocloud SD-WAN, such as encryption, VPNs, firewalls, and access control policies.- Ensure that SD-WAN configurations meet industry standards and organizational security policies.- Conduct regular security audits and updates to the SD-WAN infrastructure.

Documentation & Reporting:

- Document network designs, configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices for SD-WAN deployment.- Provide regular reports on network performance, security incidents, and the status of SD-WAN infrastructure.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication:

- Work closely with network and IT teams to align SD-WAN solutions with broader organizational goals and requirements.- Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on Velocloud SD-WAN best practices and troubleshooting techniques.

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing:

- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in SD-WAN, VMware Velocloud updates, and network security.- Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to internal documentation and training materials.

Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

- Strong experience with VMware Velocloud SD-WAN, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.- In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and services such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPSEC, VPNs, and QoS.- Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as VMware vRealize Network Insight or similar.- Familiarity with cloud networking and hybrid cloud environments.

Certifications:

- VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization (VCP-NV) or similar certifications (e.g., VMware SD-WAN Specialist) are highly desirable.- Cisco, Juniper, or other networking certifications (CCNP, JNCIP, etc.) are a plus.

Experience:

- Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in deploying and managing VMware Velocloud SD-WAN solutions.- Experience with enterprise network architectures, WAN optimization, and cloud networking is highly preferred.

Soft Skills:

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
