Job Title: Leather Technician

Location – Vellore

Department: Footwear

Experience: 6 to 10 years

Responsibilities:

- Source and evaluate suppliers for leather materials, ensuring quality and reliability.- Resolve any material incidence issues promptly and efficiently to minimize production disruptions.- Collaborate with design and production teams to develop new leather products and improve existing ones.- Oversee leather development processes, including testing, prototyping, and finalization.- Monitor and ensure adherence to established procedures and standards throughout the production process.- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to leather production.- Maintain awareness of corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards and implement practices to uphold them.- In-depth knowledge of leather types, finishes, and their application in footwear production.- Proficiency in quality control methods, including testing for tensile strength, colorfastness, and durability.- Conduct comprehensive quality checks at each stage of shoe production, from leather preparation through final assembly, to ensure consistency in color, texture, and durability.- Strong understanding of the shoe manufacturing process and leather requirements for footwear.- Experience working with industry standards and environmental regulations for leather production.- Communicate regularly with suppliers to ensure the quality of leather meets company and industry standards.- Work with teams to meet specific leather requirements for different shoe models and styles.- Identify and address production issues related to leather, such as cracking, uneven dyeing, or weakening of material, minimizing wastage and rework.- Implement corrective measures in the event of leather defects or quality issues and ensure that non-conforming materials are isolated and addressed immediately.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Leather Technology, or a related field.- Proven experience as a Leather Technician or similar role in the fashion industry.- In-depth knowledge of leather production processes and materials.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.- Familiarity with CSR principles and their application in the leather industry.- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
