About Northern Health: Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north. Services are provided through our five main campuses: Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg. About the Role: The Pleural Medicine Unit, under the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Northern Health plays a critical role in offering quaternary level service for inpatients and outpatients referred from other inpatient unit, Emergency Department as well as General Practice. The Pleural Medicine Unit envisions leading a transformative and innovative shift in pleural disease management of all Australians. The Pleural Medicine Unit consists of multidisciplinary staff including respiratory consultant, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse consultant, and resident. We work collaboratively with the commitment in providing person-centred evidence based pleural disease management. This role requires a commitment to the ongoing improvement in providing the highest quality of care. It required a collaborative work ethic to achieve the team’s vision. This role is responsible for inpatients unit, inpatient consultation, weekly outpatient clinics (Pleural clinic and General Respiratory Clinic) and junior staff education. To be successful in this role you will have: Must be a registered medical practitioner with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Must have significant clinical experience, with experience and training in Respiratory Medicine Must either be a physician training (I.e. BPT 3 and above or advanced trainee) or hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) or hold equivalent qualifications to enable recognition as a specialist Must participate in relevant college continuing education programs particularly related to Respiratory Medicine. Other Demonstrated experience in teaching of medical students and HMOs Teaching experience of other clinical staff - nursing and allied health Willingness to engage in research practices and principles Familiarity with clinical information systems Pleural procedural and thoracic ultrasound exposure.
