Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Software Engineer with a strong focus on frontend development to join our dynamic team. This role is essential to our mission of building a state-of-the-art mobile social app. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in JavaScript, Ionic, Capacitor, Firebase, and Git. While the role is primarily frontend-focused, it encompasses full-stack responsibilities. Leadership abilities, self-motivation, and an ability to handle sometimes ambiguous tasks are crucial, given our startup environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain high-quality mobile applications using JavaScript, Ionic, and Capacitor.

  • Integrate and manage Firebase for backend services and real-time data handling.

  • Utilize Git for version control and collaborative development.

  • Work closely with the design team to implement responsive and user-friendly interfaces.

  • Collaborate with backend engineers to ensure seamless integration of front-end components with server-side logic.

  • Lead and mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and productivity.

  • Engage in the full software development lifecycle, including requirement gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.

  • Participate in agile/scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.


Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related STEM field.

  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a strong emphasis on frontend development.

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Ionic, Capacitor and VueJS.

  • Experience with Firebase for backend services.

  • Solid understanding of Git for version control.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide team members.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and handle ambiguous tasks effectively.

  • Experience with agile/scrum methodologies.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Fluent English - both writing and speaking

Bonus Qualifications (Not required):

  • Experience with native iOS/Android development.

  • Familiarity with Google Maps API.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and tools.

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts.
