What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

As a key member of VMware Workspace ONE UEM SRE team:

· You will be utilizing your knowledge in .NET Framework and .NET Core web services for troubleshooting and remediation production issues.

· You will be working with cross-functional teams in the organization and help establish SLOs and drive consistent efforts to achieve those SLOs.

· You will be constantly identifying and recommending areas in which there is insufficient observability.

· You will be troubleshooting/optimizing SQL SPs, resolving Postgres issues in production.

· You will be responsive to customer incidents and escalations and help prioritize engineering work, from whole initiatives to sprint tasks.

· You will be building automation tools, which helps the team to improve observability and troubleshooting.

· You will be participating in reliability engineering practices and improve predictability of the system/services.

· You will be proactively identifying potential issues and actively drive it to closure.

· You will be measuring and optimizing UEM services performance and availability.

· You will be working on Hashicorp tech stack primarily using Nomad, Vault, and Consul.

· You should have great communication and presentation skills and knowledge in Application Development, IT Operations (SRE, DevOps) and Software Development experience with C# or Java or GO or Groovy or Python.

· You will work and have access to the following technologies: AWS, vSphere; network protocols and Linux/Unix system internals and CI/CD tools and technology like Github Actions and Artifactory; infrastructure technologies such as Network, Database, Server, Storage; OS (Linux and Windows).

· You will utilize the following monitoring tools to discover and analyze reliability issues: Dynatrace, Logz.io, Wavefront, Kibana, dot Trace/dot Memory, and Sentry One.

· You will be required to take up PagerDuty or equivalent in shifts to provide support for P0 issues and adhere to SLAs.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

You will become part of an experienced engineering team, which is building a large-scale UEM platform as a service.
You and your team will be responsible for identifying/delivering any observability, scalability, predictability, reliability gaps within UEM platform/services.

Within your first 30 days  of joining our team, you will not only acquire a fundamental comprehension of the product's architecture and primary operational procedures, but also a basic understanding of the monitoring tools used within the product. Within 90 days  of joining our team, you will have the incredible opportunity to fully grasp the deliverables of your team and collaborate closely with your peers to maintain and improve observability, scalability, predictability, reliability of the UEM platform and services. You will also gain a deep understanding of our monitoring and automation tools, with the exciting possibility of contributing to the development of these tools as a developer yourself. Within 180 days  of joining our team, you will have the exciting opportunity to take charge of individual assignments and run them independently with minimal support from your peers. This will not only allow you to showcase your skills and expertise but also empower you to make a real impact on our company's success. Within 360 days  of joining our team, you will have the exciting opportunity to drive the transformation strategy of our company by taking full ownership of small-scale projects and leading various initiatives. What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing   on a regular basis?

Take ownership of Product architecture, design, product quality, user experience, and security, including the integration of AI and ML frameworks to add intelligence to VDI. Perform debugging of hard problems and analysis of stack traces from crash dumps. Perform analysis of complex tasks or situations that require in-depth evaluation. Manage activities to meet delivery dates and milestones and communicate status and risks to Engineering leads and project team. You will implement and improve processes around DevOps, Agile, and CI/CD You will be using software development tools such as Git, Perforce, JIRA, and Jenkins. You will be responsive to customer and product asks and escalations and help prioritize engineering work. You will be responsible for daily engineering activities such as stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, architectural reviews, customer support, and release readiness. Communicate on a regular basis with product management and release teams. As part of this team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams in multiple geographies to ensure product delivery and customer commitments are met on time. Our products are critical to our customers, and you will coordinate and collaborate with our support team to make sure our customer needs are met. Train and mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance and direction. Take initiative and identify new areas of improvement for products, tools, and processes. Flexible: The role is considered flexible and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable non-daily commute of the office
