Qualifications
Qualifications
PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, with a focus on AI, machine learning, data science, or security. 6+ years of relevant industry or academic experience in applying AI techniques to solve business problems in cyber security or related areas. Strong knowledge and skills in machine learning, data science, and security, including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, graph mining, malware analysis, anomaly detection, threat intelligence, etc. Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python/Jupyter and other AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch etc. Experience in working with large-scale and complex data sets and building and deploying AI solutions at scale in cloud environments, such as Azure, AWS, or GCP. Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Passion for learning new technologies and domains and delivering innovative and impactful solutions. Additional experience in any of the areas like cyber security and fraud detection would be beneficial, but not mandatory. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:

Responsibilities
As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will be part of the Security Research Team, which is responsible for developing and deploying AI-based solutions that enhance the capabilities of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. You will work on challenging and impactful projects that span across various domains, such as malware analysis, anomaly detection, threat intelligence, behavior modeling, and graph mining. You will apply your expertise in machine learning, data science, and security to design, implement, and evaluate novel algorithms and systems that can operate at scale and in real time. You will also collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs and expectations of our customers.

Responsibilities Research, develop, and deploy AI-based solutions that improve the security of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and its customers. Conduct data analysis, feature engineering, model training, testing, and validation using state-of-the-art tools and frameworks. Stay updated on the latest developments and trends in AI, security, and related fields. Communicate and present your research findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Mentor and coach junior researchers and engineers on the team.
