Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Exchange Senior Engineer at Level 3 to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing service outages, escalations, and providing guidance to other team members. They will also play a key role in training and upskilling team members to enhance their knowledge and expertise in Exchange Server administration and support. As an Exchange Level 3 Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of an organization's Microsoft Exchange Server environment. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of email communication services. You will collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to deliver a seamless and efficient email and collaboration platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Exchange Server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and updates.
  • Monitor server health, performance, and troubleshoot issues proactively.
  • Implement and manage mailbox databases, email address policies, and distribution groups.
  • Manage and resolve service outages and escalations related to Exchange Server.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex email-related issues.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to upskill team members.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize Exchange Server performance and security.
  • Implement and manage email security measures, including anti-spam and anti-malware solutions.
  • Ensure email encryption and compliance with data security regulations.
  • Configure and maintain high availability features such as Database Availability Groups (DAGs) for fault tolerance.
  • Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate Exchange with other systems, such as Active Directory, Skype for Business, and SharePoint.
  • Plan and execute email migrations, including Exchange version upgrades or cloud-based solutions like Microsoft 365.
  • Enforce security best practices and compliance policies for email communication.
  • Perform regular security assessments and audits.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize Exchange Server for better efficiency.
  • Monitor resource utilization and plan for capacity upgrades as needed.
  • Maintain documentation for Exchange Server configurations and procedures.
  • Mentor and train to junior Engineer and other support groups on demand.
  • Investigate and resolve complex email-related issues escalated from Level 1 and Level 2 support engineer.
  • Provide on-call support for critical incidents.
  • Keep Exchange Servers up to date with the latest application patches and security updates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in Exchange Server administration and support.
  • Certifications: MCSE, Microsoft 365 Messaging Administrator, Microsoft 365 Security Administrator, CompTIA Security+, ITIL, CISSP is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of email security practices and compliance requirements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with hybrid Exchange environments, including Office 365 integration.
  • Knowledge of email archiving solutions Enterprise Vault, SMTP archiving etc.
  • Familiarity with email migration tools and strategies.
  • Experience with third-party email security solutions e.g., FireEye, DLP etc.
  • Vendor-specific certifications or training in Exchange Server technologies.
  • Experience in training and mentoring team members to enhance their knowledge and expertise.
  • In-depth knowledge of Exchange Server architecture, including high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage service outages and escalations independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when necessary.

This Exchange Level 3 Engineer role is critical for maintaining an organization's email infrastructure and ensuring that email communication remains secure, reliable, and efficient. It requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with other IT professionals and stakeholders
