Job Position :

Summary :


The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the efficient and secure management of relational databases hosted on Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service). This role involves database configuration, optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability of database systems. The DBA will collaborate with other IT professionals and stakeholders to support application development and data management initiatives.

Key responsibilities Database Administration :

- Configure and maintain Amazon RDS instances for various database engines (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).

- Implement best practices for database security, backup, and recovery.

Performance Optimization :

- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.

- Conduct performance tuning and implement indexing strategies.

Backup and Recovery :

- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

- Perform regular backups and conduct recovery testing.

Security and Compliance :

- Implement and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data.

- Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.

Troubleshooting and Support :

Incident Resolution :

- Investigate and resolve database-related incidents and issues.

- Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot application-database interactions.

Monitoring and Alerting :

- Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address potential problems.

- Respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner.

Documentation and Reporting :

- Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

- Create and update knowledge base articles for support teams and end-users.

Reporting :

- Generate and analyze database performance and utilization reports.

- Provide regular status reports to IT management and stakeholders.

Desired :

Qualification / certifications Education :


- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications for specific database engines (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server).

- Preferred relevant work experience Minimum of 8-10 years of experience as a database administrator, with a focus on AWS RDS.

Skills and knowledge Technical Skills :

- In-depth knowledge of AWS RDS and its various database engines.

- Proficient in SQL query optimization and database performance tuning.

- Experience with database security best practices and encryption.

Soft Skills :

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
