Job Overview

We are looking for a Junior AI/ML Engineer to support the development and integration of conversational AI features into the Heald app. The role involves assisting in building chatbots, working with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, and integrating with large language models (LLMs) such as OpenAI, Claude AI, and Gemini AI. Candidates with prior healthcare or health-tech exposure will be preferred.

Candidate Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in AI/ML or related software engineering
  • Strong Python programming skills
  • Familiarity with Flask/FastAPI and REST API development
  • Basic understanding of NLP concepts, transformers, and embeddings
  • Exposure to at least one LLM API (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Cohere, etc.)
  • Interest in healthcare/health-tech applications
  • Eagerness to learn about RAG systems, vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate), and prompt engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in building and maintaining AI/ML pipelines for chatbots and RAG workflows
  • Work with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks
  • Support integration of LLMs into conversational AI features for diabetes management use cases
  • Contribute to backend services using Python and Flask
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and medical teams to refine dialog flows
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and improving chatbot responses for accuracy, empathy, and safety
  • Learn healthcare compliance requirements (HIPAA, data security)

Additional Requirements

  • Prior experience in healthcare or health-tech AI applications
  • Exposure to LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar AI frameworks
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
