Position Summary:

The successful candidate will work with an energetic and collaborative team at Sundynes office located in Pune, India. The Shop Quality engineer must be a motivated and organized person who is responsible to ensure all quality activities at factory shop floor & carry out inspections at Sundyne factory as per Sundyne requirements. A competent Shop Quality engineer will have a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic lubrication and piping systems in API pumps & compressors. He will be well-versed in all QMS, EMS and health & safety regulations. The ideal candidate will also have aptitude in undertaking administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, process and system improvement etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the Shop Quality engineer include, but are not limited to:

• Carry out inspections of all in-process parts, subassemblies, assemblies & packages at factory shop or inspections at supplier's place as per Sundyne requirements.
• Guide, support, motivate and monitor the shop team to improve product quality and closely work with to complete assigned tasks.
• Monitor MIS of Shop Quality (Rework / Rejection ppm, Customer complaints , EHS objectives etc.) and drive continuous improvements.
• Work with CFTs & departments like SCM, Engineering, machine shop, assembly and testing for Corrective Actions.
• Carry out the process and product audits of shop floor on ongoing basis as per the Quarterly / yearly audit plans and define audit checklists for new processes / products.
• Monitor & improve Integrated Management system on shop ( QMS, EMS, Health & Safety ).
• Analyze the major rejections & reworks at in-process and final inspection.
• Initiate & take the corrective actions on internal & external non-conformities & monitor the effectiveness of actions periodically.
• Arrange for the Quality review meeting with shop team on product & process quality issues.
• Ensure timely completion of inspection on shop floor as per PO /ITP requirements.
• Quality & EHS improvements through various tools like process study, 7 QC tools, Kaizen, Poke-Yoke, HAIRO, Aspect Impact etc.
• Ensure calibration of measuring instruments & equipment's. Ensure periodic maintenance of the same.
• Must be able to do product testing of pumps & compressors during various stages of manufacturing. And offer products to Customer / TPI for inspection & clearance.
• Prepare & monitor product checklists during manufacturing process.

Technical/Functional Skills:

• Proven experience as Shop floor Quality engineer role.
• Good understanding of technical aspects of mechanical, Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, piping systems of API Pumps & Compressors.
• Hands on experience of GD&T, measuring techniques & equipment's, NDT, Welder qualification, Supplier Audit and supplier improvement, SQC, Kaizen, 5S. Problem solving thru 8D, Why-Why analysis, CAPA.
• Knowledge of sand and investment casing process, national & international material standards, heat treatment processes, manufacturing processes, surface coating / plating processes.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of ISO systems i.e QMS, EMS , Health & Safety.
• Product knowledge of pumps & compressors.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in related field: Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10-12 years of experience in a similar industry.
• Demonstrate analytical thinking, problem solving and creativity.
• NDT level II in DP, MP,UT,RT & VT.
• IMS internal auditor.
