Division and Unit Overview :

The Publication IT (Pubs IT) team of the ACS Publications Division provides high quality Software support and development assistance on various web-based systems including ACS Journals and Books Delivery system, AI assisted applications for various use cases in the publishing workflow, ACS Publishing portal (supports Authors, Reviewers and Editors). Our users include ACS journal subscribers, Authors, Reviewers, Editors and other internal customers. We provide systems support, development and management of new systems implementation and management of a wide-area networking infrastructure that serves our customers.

Position Summary :

The GCP DevOps engineer resource will play a leading role in the migration of a number of business critical applications to GCP using best practices. This position requires the ability to work independently and take initiative while working effectively as a senior member of a project team.

Position Accountabilities :

- Develop effective migration strategies migration of business applications to GCP based on business unit requirements

- Build the required scripts for the migration of the applications as well deployment of new applications onto GCP

- Work out the most appropriate security / scalability / monitoring strategy for the applications deployed on GCP

- Understand relationships between applications within the Software Engineering Department portfolio

- Perform in depth application testing and integrate quality into all work

- Troubleshoot problems in development, staging and production environments

- Regularly communicate status to project managers and other interested parties

- Provide leadership and mentoring for less senior personnel in the areas of design, implementation, and professional development Coordinate changes on Knowledge :

- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.

- 8+years of overall industrial experience in software development and DevOps area

- 5+ years of experience with DevOps activities on Google Cloud

- Strong Hands on experience in App containerization, App CI/CD and k8s and using appropriate services in GCP for container deployments

- Strong Hands on experience with one IAC (Infrastructure as Code) tool such as Terraform

- Hands on experience with one programming language such as Java

- Experience in Agile/Scrum practice in Jira,

- Experience and knowledge in software lifecycle and quality control - dev, qa, prod, operation, maintenance (know what to do at each stage).

Skills in these areas will be highly desirable :

- Experience in modern infrastructure management.

- Experience in AI.

- Experience in solution architecture

- Experience in tech documentation

- Experience in tech presentation
