About Dirac Labs Dirac Labs is building diamond NV-center magnetometers and related quantum sensors that unlock precise navigation when GPS is unavailable. Our work is supported by NASA, NOAA, Emergent Ventures, and the USISTEF. Our mission is simple: provide trustworthy navigation in every location without worrying about spoofing or jamming. Why this role exists Quantum sensors are at the core of our mission, and embedded engineers can make them real. This role exists to design and develop the hardware and firmware that turn advanced sensing into systems that are practical, precise, and ready for deployment. By joining us, you can help transform breakthrough physics into reliable navigation tools for aircraft, ships, and vehicles. What you will do Design and develop embedded hardware systems, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototyping using mixed signal microcontrollers. Interface between processors, peripherals, sensors, analog and knowledge of using I2 C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet. Implement FPGA designs using RTL coding in Verilog/VHDL, synthesis, and verification. Develop and optimise embedded software/firmware, including low-level drivers, real-time operating systems (RTOS) integration. Conduct system-level testing, debugging, and validation using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, and simulation tools. Collaborate closely with physicists to build next-generation hardware and software. Publish internal specs, ablation studies, and decision records that make the system understandable and maintainable. You might be a fit if you have 2+ years of hands-on experience designing and building embedded systems with mixed-signal microcontrollers, emphasizing high-performance and reliability to work in real-time. Strong experience with FPGA design flows, including high-level synthesis (HLS) and integration with ARM processors. Proficiency in embedded software development using C/C++, with experience in bare-metal programming and RTOS. Familiarity with hardware description languages (Verilog or VHDL) Experience with PCB design tools. Nice to have Experience with inertial sensors, magnetometers, or geophysics datasets. Experience in Eagle CAD and Fusion360 Background in power supply and control systems Clear writing and a habit of turning experiments into decisions. What success looks like 3 months: Develop the hardware for inertial navigation systems 6 months: Build a control system for the NV center magnetometers Location Bengaluru, India.
