KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preparation, sterilization, and qualification of culture media for microbial testing and environmental monitoring.
  • Conduct routine microbiological analysis of purified water, raw materials, intermediates, and API samples as per pharmacopeial standards (IP/USP/EP).
  • Perform environmental monitoring of controlled manufacturing and sampling areas, including viable and non-viable monitoring.
  • Ensure microbiological compliance of utility systems (PW, WFI, clean steam) through scheduled testing and trending.
  • Maintain all microbiological records, logs, and reports in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and audit readiness.
  • Investigate microbiological deviations, OOS results, and support CAPA implementation.
  • Operate and maintain microbiology lab instruments (e.g., autoclaves, LAF units, incubators) with proper calibration and qualification.
  • Lead and train the microbiology team on contamination control, GMP hygiene practices, and microbiological techniques relevant to API manufacturing.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED

  • B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Microbiology
  • 2-4 yrs experience as a microbiologist
  • Proficient in lab equipment operation and maintenance
  • Expertise in microbial limit test, sterility testing, endotoxin testing
  • Strong documentation and data management skills
