Job Title: Job Title: IBM MQ Series FTE z/OS Admin System ProgrammerClient: HCLPayroll: TECEZEExperience: 8+Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced IBM MQ Series FTE z/OS Admin System Programmer to administer and support IBM MQ Series and File Transfer Edition (FTE) on the z/OS platform. The ideal candidate will ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing messaging infrastructure that supports enterprise applications and batch processes. This role demands deep technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to maintain mission-critical systems.Key ResponsibilitiesMQ AdministrationInstall, configure, and maintain IBM MQ Series and MQ FTE on z/OS.Manage MQ objects including queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations.Monitor MQ performance and availability, applying tuning techniques to optimize throughput and reduce latency.Upgrade SupportPlan and execute upgrades of MQ Series and FTE components on z/OS.Conduct compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning.Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades.Maintain detailed documentation and version control records for upgrades.Security & ComplianceImplement and manage MQ security protocols including TLS/SSH certificates, RACF integration, and security exits.Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for secure messaging environments.System Programming & IntegrationSupport integration of MQ with z/OS subsystems including CICS, DB2, and IMS.Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for MQ operations.Disaster Recovery & High AvailabilityDesign and implement MQ Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability.Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies for MQ environments.Collaboration & SupportPartner with developers, infrastructure teams, and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related issues.Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing within the team.Documentation & Process ImprovementMaintain comprehensive documentation of MQ configurations, procedures, and best practices.Identify, propose, and implement automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.Required Skills & QualificationsTechnical Expertise8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS.Deep understanding of MQ Queue Sharing Groups, FTE configurations, and MQ monitoring tools.Proficiency in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related language tools.Soft SkillsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in hybrid team environments.Preferred CertificationsIBM MQ Administrator Certification (or equivalent relevant certification).
